This speaker is not weatherproof. A better choice would be our MK850 Spitfire 8" In-Ceiling speaker which is weather resistant and one of our best sounding speakers. In addition, the MK850 is sold in stereo pairs and only costs a little more than a single ICE1080 HD. I would also suggest using our OSD 14/2 speaker cable versus a 16-gauge speaker wire. You will be pleasantly surprised how much bass these products produce.

Sounds like a great system. You can use the ICE1080 as a wall speaker but keep in mind that ceiling spaces tend to have more room than wall spaces. This is a large speaker and there may be some vibration.

This model comes shipped with a grill puller tool. Otherwise, with the speaker outside the wall the frame is flexible enough to work the grill out of its slot by twisting it from side to side.

With 24' high ceilings, I needed large ceiling speakers

Great Speakers, Great Separation,

I use these speakers in ceiling as direct stereo sound.
They have great response when you put power to them. My ceilings
are high, so the bass would be a little better with using a powered
sub. The mids and highs are very clear and there is great
separation of all frequencies. I would recommend the manufacturer
to make these speakers in molded colors..beige, white, and black.
The speakers are easily paintable. I use an Onkyo 609 receiver,
with over 100 W/channel
