Features and Specifications:
Available in multiple lengths to fit any application, OSD Audio Cat5e (enhanced) has the same bandwidth as Cat6 cable but is less expensive. This durable but flexible cable is an industry standard cable and is most often used in computer networks. Its higher bandwidth will support super fast Ethernet operations, and CAT5e is 100% backwards compatible with all CAT5 devices.
What Does Unshielded Twisted Cable Mean?
Actually most CAT5 cable uses an unshielded, twisted pair design. Unshielded simply means there is no metal shielding around the cable so that it can be run easily inside walls and around corners. The cable is twisted to aid in noise rejection. Some environments with large motors, generators, and certain types of high-voltage lighting can be major sources of Electromagnetic and Radio Frequency Interference (EMI/RFI). In these cases, shielded twisted pair (STP) cable can protect data signals when connected properly. However, 99% of our applications can use unshielded Cat5 cables.
