The AW850 uses a small base, candelabra type bulb. Spec 40W max on the package, but this is for UL certification. It can handle a 60W bulb no problem. 60W is the the largest bulb you can get in a candelabra base.

What are the dimensions of this unit? How much clearance is needed from the wall bracket to the top of the light? Can you use a pair for stereo? I have two existing lights on patio, with deck above. Thanks.

Answer:

We no longer carry this model, only the AW-825, which does not have a light (your reason for looking at in the first place). Check Amazon. They show a number of sites where it is available including Amazon direct. Note: Dimensions were not available in the owners manual or even on their official web site. Unofficially we found: 11.5 L x 11.5 W x 15.5 H in but could not find from the bracket to the top of the unit. We're guessing around four inches at best.

What color is the trim of the wall mount speaker/lantern?
Can I drive 4 of the lanterns from 1 transmitter
Can I buy 3 additional wall light/speaker lanterns without the transmitter?

Answer:

Hi Roger:

I believe the trim is a brown or Bronze color.
You can drive four lanterns from a single transmitter. You can either set all four speakers to Mono or two of the speakers two right and two left for two seperate stereo pairs.

Now the bad news, we no longer stock this model (but is available on-line at Amazon.com) and AR (Acoustic Research an Audiovox company) does not sell the speakers seperately. To buy four means four speakers and four Transmitters although you would only need one transmitter for your application.

This comes with a mini cable (3.5mm) that is compatible with multiple types of radios. It is very easy to hook up - just plug and play!

Most TV's have an RCA connection (red & white) so this unit comes with that cable. This item is currently out of stock. Might we suggest the AW825? CL

Excellent product overall. Replaced existing light fixture outside and is used daily. Very satisfied with the look and sound! - Nici

This is a well made, quality product. I purchased only one speaker to replace a light on my deck. The sound quality is good even in mono setting. Surprisingly loud if you wish to crank it up. No problems with reception at all. I have the transmitter approx. 40 feet away near my TV. worked Very well from my computer (Itunes) and with an Ipod plugged into it. ONE DRAWBACK. Don't expect the light to be very bright. It was not a very good substitute for the lamp that I replaced it with. It provides very soft ambient light. I feel the trade off to have music outside anytime was worth the trade-off for dimmer lighting. - Phil
