How durable are these rock speakers?
OSD outdoor speakers are developed with harsh conditions of the outdoors in mind. Our rock speakers use only non-water-absorbing materials and won't absorb any water. This is critical in winter so it won't freeze and crack. The shape is designed to withstand large amounts of pressure, extreme temperatures and moisture. Remember though, outdoor speakers are an investment, so take care of them. Storing them away from extreme weather conditions will only lengthen the time you will get enjoying outdoor speakers. These rock speakers utilize weather-resistant components for years of trouble free performance.
What kind of cable should I run?
We recommend using our waterproof wire and wire connectors specifically designed for the outdoors. These speaker cables that can withstand extreme weather conditions like rain, snow and high temperatures and incorporate twice the insulation and a formulated white polyethylene jacket that is U/V resistant. If you plan to bury the cable in the ground, we recommend using direct burial cable.
What you’ll need to install these speakers
These speakers are passive devices, meaning that you will need to power them with an amp or receiver. Check the power rating of the amp with the speakers to make sure your amp/receiver is a good match. You’ll also need cable. We offer CL3 Rated Direct Burial Cable in 16/2 (16 Gauge two conductor) for runs up to 80 feet and 14/2 (14 Gauge two conductor) for longer runs. For added protection, it’s not a bad idea to use the Aqua Blue Direct Burial connectors for terminating the speaker cables to the three foot leads.

I have these small speakers installed with an OM SUB200 subwoofer and they sound fine, not epic but ok. They can sound small at times but if they are paired with a sub they can sound good provided you have a smaller listening environment. I paid $50 for the pair shipped to my door and for that price you can't go wrong, but if I were spending more than that I would step up to at least a 6.5" speaker.
Pros:Cost, if purchased on sale multiple sets may be a great option.
Cons:Size. The 5.25 driver is not the best thing to use without some type of sub.
Best Uses:Nearby locations, avoid using them in larger backyard or deck settings if you want a full rich sound as they can sound a bit small.

I initially had a wireless speaker for my tunes near the pool but got tired of the interferance. Bought these Rock speakers (8 of them) and wired them up. I cannot be any more pleased. Great sound and coverage around the pool/patio area. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great sound from small rocks

I have these hooked up to a Pioneer VSX-519 and they
sound great. They are placed about 35ft apart around our pool. They
are combined with a planter speaker. They sound great with a flat
response. Not real bright and not real bassy but over all they do a
good job. Great for the money. Now lets see how long they
last.

I am a contractor and I ordered these for a backyard
installation I did and they sounded awesome. I installed 4 of these
rock speakers throughout the backyard along with a pair of Bose
Omni that the customer already had (and that his wife did not like
because they are green and ugly)and the rock speakers sounded just
as good if not better. Needless to say my customer was very happy
with these rock speakers.

We purchased these frock speakers for my dad for fathers
day and trust me, he doesnt know too much about audio...but these
were the easiest speakers to hook up...the sound was great and the
rocks themselves are very sturdy and durable...perfect speakers for
the outside and by buying from OSD, you save a whole lot of money

i like them. 2 problems though, they dont have drain
holes and sercurity hooks. overall great i own a pair of tic
outdoor inground speakers and not as loud as these are. great
purchase. there is something else i looked in there grill and how
the speakers are. looks like water can sit in there for a few days
