Both the R-965 and R-865 receivers share a number
of key technologies with the our top-of-the-line home theater separate, the
P-965:
High quality parts: With items like the Cirrus Crystal CS-49400 DSP processor,
Analog Devices AD-1852 DAC’s, AKM’s AK-5380 A to D converters and Analog Devices
AD-1896 sample rate converter, performance nudges the state-of-the-art.
Decoding: Both decode virtually every technology on the market including Dolby’s
brand new DPL IIx. A longer list includes DTSES Discete and Matrix, DTS 96/24,
DTS-Neo 6, Dolby Digital Surround EX, Dolby Headphone Levels 1, 2, and 3 and
more.
Field Upgradeable: In the fast moving audio world, it’s hard to keep up with all
the new advances. Both the R-965 and R-865 have upgradeable operating systems.
As new technologies emerge they can be added to keep these receivers continually
up-to-date.
Universal Video--upconverts composite and S-Video inputs to component video
output. Now you can intermix video components yet maintain only a single
connection to your TV or monitor.
Wide bandwidth Component video switching : performed by relays so there is no
bandwidth limitation imposed by our receivers.
Digital Remastering: CD’s are recorded at
16-bits and 44.1 kHz. ReMaster them to 24-bit and 192 kHz and improve their
sound.
Advanced Room 2 operation: With independent
program routing and control for a second room, both receivers can serve as the
nerve center for a whole house audio/video system. Both can be re-configured to
power the second zone. They even have dedicated control ports and remote
controls for the second zone.
Control: Both receivers come with
preprogrammed multi-unit remote controls with LCD information windows to operate
your entire system. Our RNC-500, supplied with the R-965, P-965 and R-963 can
even learn commands from other remotes.
Our R-965 flagship receiver is identical to
its more advanced parents except for the necessary compromises due to the use of
a single power supply for both the preamp and main amp sections and in its
ultimate power capability. (The R-865 has fewer inputs and outputs and
sacrifices a dB or two in total power, but suffers no loss in quality.)
