Why mono not stereo?

Answer:
Hi Tom:
The output from the AMP250 is a two conductor mono signal. The RSUB300 features two two conductor connections. The internal 8 inch driver is rated at 4 ohms (the 10 inch is a passive radiator). You would connect the sub in series. First connect the positive output (red) wire from the SMP250 to one of the positive inputs (red) on the RSUB300 then connect one of the negative (black) input wires to the other positive (red) input wire. Then connect the remaining negative (black) wire to the negative output (black)wire from the SMP250. That will give an 8 ohm signal to the SMP250. There is a master output adjustment on the back of the SMP250 which should be set to 3/4 output then adjust the hi-cut filter which works best around 95 to 105.
Most Receivers output mono and the SMP250 works whether you connect just a single input (recommend the left) or both in which it bridges the signal internally.

If I buy two rsu300 subs can I power them with one 250w amp or do I need two amps also?

Answer:
Paul,
You can use two RSUB300's on one SMP250, yes.

Answer:
Hi Paul,
To connect a single RSUB300 Rock speaker subwoofer, you need to wire the four conductors on each sub in series so that it plays at an 8-ohm load. The SMP250 puts out an 8 ohm Bridged Mono signal so the single woofer is the optimum setup when wired this way. If you were to take a second subwoofer wired in Series then wired in Parallel with the second woofer connected to the SMP250, this should “in theory” provide a 4-ohm load that the amplifier is supposed to handle. I would purchase the first bundle and see how that works (Single RSUB300 and SMP250) for your application. Then if necessary purchase a second bundle and connect the RSUB300 as noted above (Series-Parallel). Let this run awhile to see how effective it is long term. If you are satisfied, we will take back the second SMP250 and credit you accordingly based upon the bundle price. If you still think the system is lacking, then think about adding the second SMP250. Ideally the best setup would be a dedicated SMP250 amplifier on each the RSUB300; however, this way you can find out if you can get away with just a single amp and both subs.

Will this combination work with my Onkyo TX-NR609 A/V receiver?

Answer:
Hi Matt:
Your Onkyo Receiver features a Pre-amp sub output that would connect directly with the SMP250. Are you using it for your Home Theater setup?
