There are two types of volume controllers - Impedance matching and Non-impedance matching. If you connect your speaker parallel to the receiver or connect the speakers into an impedance protection speaker selector, use impedance matching volume controller. If you connect just one pair of speaker directly to the receiver or your speakers are connected directly into an impedance matching speaker selector, use regular volume controller.

Question: I bought a SVC-70 volume controller a while ago. I am trying to connect speakers to this. From the instructions i found that i can connect four 8 ohm pairs to the volume controller if i select switch settings to 4x. But the controller has only connectors for 2 pairs. How do i connect other two speakers ? Do i need to buy new volume controller for other speakers ? Answer: One volume control will control a pair (two speakers), but you can connect more than one pair of speakers to the amp using the impedance matching volume control, thus you set the jumper as 4X (using four volume controls to control four pair of speakers). The volume control will do impedance matching for your amp. Question: In your FAQ's you indicate that 2 pair of speakers can be connected to a single volume control. Do you wire both pairs directly from the volume control or do you connect 1 speaker pair to the volume control and connect the other from the speaker? Answer: Parallel connecting two pair of speakers not serial connecting them.
I love these. I use them to control the speakers around my house on the upper and lower decks, basement, and garage. It's great to walk from area to area still have the great sound coming from OSD speakers and then be able to turn them up or down without leaving the room. I use my 2nd zone on my stereo to feed a total of 8 speakers throughout the house (adjust the # of speakers on the module) and it is a consistant sound from room to room. The quick connect wiring is as easy as it gets and makes it easy to remove the controller for painting the walls etc! If you are looking to set up a whole house system and don't want to fully automate this is the way to go! - Brett

I am trying to purchase a volume control for only 1 speaker. which one can be used in a single speaker installation? The SVC105 Mono Volume Control is out of stock and discontinued.
