Lifetime Tech Support

A team OSD favorite, the AMP200 is a high current 2-channel amp with loads of features. This amp lets you home run (directly to the back of the amp) two pairs of speakers or 4 speakers total. Since it's high current, you can add up to 4 pairs of speakers (8 speakers total) by adding OSD speakers selectors such as the DSM4. Rated at 80 Watts per channel at 8 ohms, the OSD-AMP200 is overload stable so it's ideal for use anywhere clean power is needed. It also includes a dual source switching circuit. When you connect two independent sources number (say your iPod and a TV in another room) source one takes priority when it is active. When source one is turned off, source number two comes on. Note: You cannot play two sources simultaneously. For this feature you need a multi-channel amp like our MX1260. Step-up features rarely seen in amps of this price range include a built-in voltage meter, and front mounted volume and balance trim controls.

High Performance, High Current Power
Rated at 80 watts per channel at 8 ohms, and stable down to 2 ohms, the OSD-AMP200 is overload stable so it's ideal for use anywhere clean power is needed. It also includes a dual source switching automatic circuit. Step-up features rarely seen in amps of this price range include a built-in voltage meter, and front mounted volume and balance trim controls.

AMP200 offers 80 watts RMS per channel of power, with bridgeable outputs for up to 250 watts RMS. A, B, or A+B speaker selector switches make managing connected outputs easy. And a signal-sensing power on feature lets the amp power up automatically when you power on your source.

Automatic Source Switching
The AMP200 can automatically switch between connected sources, thanks to a priority signal-sensing feature. So if you have your iPod connected to input 2, then decide you want to watch a movie, when the DVD player connected to the main input 1 is turned on, the AMP120 will automatically switch to that source.

A variable delay control lets you adjust the amount of time needed to "listen" for a signal from your main input, between 3 and 15 seconds, so things like gaps between CD tracks won't accidentally switch your inputs.

Works with Smartphones, iPods, and Other Portable Devices
Use the AMP200 to connect your Smartphone or other portable music device (as long as you have a headphone jack.) The AMP200 includes two RCA signal level inputs marked as red for right and white for left. Using an RCA-to-mini stereo cable (sold separately), plug the 3.5mm stereo connector into the headphone output of your iPod or other portable device, then connect the RCAs to one of the inputs of the AMP200.

129 Questions asked on 2-Channel 125W Per Channel, High Current Class A/B Stereo Amplifier Toroidal Transformers - AMP200

Vickie • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q I'm the average Joe trying power my music in the house and by the pool using the same source. I have a 6 zone speaker selector with volume control but I still can't get much volume to outside speakers, ( I'm only using 5 at this time and 3 sets are outside) Can I hook my Air express directly into this amp and the speaker selector and get the power I need to the farthest speaker which are Niles rock speakers about 100ft away from the source?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A Hi Vickie: When you mean the same source are you connecting the Speaker Selector to a Zone 2 speaker Level output from a Audio Video Receiver. If this is the case then you can purchase whether a AMP 200 or Amp 300 to connect to the Zone 2 Pre amp output of your AV Receiver. Then you could still have your Airport express connected to the receiver. You can also start from scratch and use our AMP200 or 300 and connect directly to your speaker selector. You could then connect the Air Port Express directly to the AMP200/300 using a 3.5mm to RCA adaptor cable. I am assuming your Speaker Selector is a Niles unit as well with switchable protection on the back. The switch gives you four options; 1 pr, 2 pr, 3-4 pr and 5-6 pair. Even though you are powering 5 pair you can set the selector to 3-4 pairs so you get more output from the AMP200/300. Let me know if there is anything else I did not cover: tim@osdaudio.com TL/4339
chester • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q THIS WILL HANDLE 150WATT SPEAKERS AN OPERATE CD PLAYER EASY??
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A Hi Chester: This is a true audiophile High Current Amplifier that is stable down to 2 ohms. No problem driving a pair or even two pair of 150 Watt speakers. Your CD player will plug directly into the Input #2 using Unbalanced RCA stereo patch cords. The amp features automatic Source switching so you could have both a CD player and iPod, iPad or even laptop connected to the second input. The amp is a workhorse and can handle what ever you throw at it. This amp in 8 ohm is like driving a Corvette at 35 miles an hour on the highway. So throw a second pair connecting to Speaker B and play both at once dropping the impedance down to 4 ohm. You notice there are a stereo left and right master gain control on the back. You will not be disappointed, remember all amps are not created equal. TL/4343
Tom • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q Hello, Can this amp run both speaker A and speaker B at the same time (8 ohm load)? My AMP 100 when selecting speaker A, speaker B button pops up so both (speaker A & B) can not be run at the same time.
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A HI Tom: The AMP100 (AudioSource) like our AMP120 are chip amps which we do not recommend running both speaker A and B at the same time since the amp like to see only an 8 ohm load and the two pair A+B are in parallel lowering the impedance to 4 ohm. So we purposely design the buttons so you can not push both in at the same time. You can but we do not recommend it. The AMP200 is another amplifier all together that is true High Current Amplifier which is stable down to 2 ohms. You would have no problem connecting two pair to Speaker A and adding a third pair to speaker B and playing all three pair at once. The amp would see a 2.6 ohm load. As the impedance drops the demand for current increases. Higher current means higher temperatures and the AMP200 features ample internal heat sink to absorb and dissipate the extra heat. The AMP200 weighs 24 pounds versus 9 for the AMP100/120. To top that the sound quality is a night and day difference. The AMP200 and AMP300 are true High Current Audiophile Amplifiers. Great choice... TL/4354
Edward • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q I would like to use my onkyo stereo receiver as a pre amp. Would this be a good choice, I have a multi room speaker selector with 4 sets of 8 ohm speakers
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A HI Edward: The Onkyo amplifier will work fine as long as the Speaker Selector you are using has internal impedance matching protection. You did not mention using impedance matching Volume Controls. Which model/brand speaker selector are you using? What are the four pair of speakers you are using as well? Also which model is the ONKYO Receiver? tim@osdaudio.com TL/4403
Bruno • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q Does it work with an audio source that will feed the RCA in with 2.0V RMS
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A HI Bruno: There is no limitation on input signal. Typically the higher the input the the better especially when you have adjustable Master Gain controls on both the AMP200 and AMP300. It allows you to turn the gains down on the AMP which is much more effective versus having a lower input and then have to overdrive the internal gain controls. You have greater headroom available to you. It is like adding an additional pre driver to your signal path. Typically when you add a good pre amplifier to your system you are looking to increase in input signal to the amplifier like you are doing. TL/4408
