I bought 2 pairs, 4 speakers total. Looking to match with recommended receiver, amp for optimal performance. Reveiver, amp will be outside not in weather, but if one is best for outside, all the better. What do you recommend?

Hi Jeff, 120 watts should be sufficient to power these speakers, but they can take a bit more. If you fully want to utilize a speaker, you could always go with a 6.5" such as the RS690. Thanks! -BM 2196

Hi Derrick, That should be fine. The only issue would be that receivers typically only push about 80-100 watts per channel. Since these are big 8" drivers, they will play, but they sound optimal with 150 watts or so driving them. Call us if you have any further questions. Thanks! -BM 2120

The RS840 do not have a power chord, as they are not powered, and need to be run to an amplifier via speaker wire. Depending on how long of a run the speakers will be from the amp, you would either use 16 or 14 gauge wire. You may be interested in our wireless rock speakers, the WR800, which are powered and come with a 8ft power chord. -BM 2067

Hi Patrick, Consider a smaller rock speaker like our RX550. The SONOS is 50W per channel and you can only connect one speaker to each powered output. CL/MA 1996

Hi Nick, Are you planning on using the Sony receiver to only drive the RS840 Rock Speakers? If so, you can connect the speaker to Front Speaker A. If you are using the Sony Receiver to power a Home Theater, connect the Volume Control/RS840 speakers to Front Speaker B (A should be connected to your existing right and left front stage speakers). You would have to select which speakers you want to listen to. Assuming you will be turning off your home theater and playing a 2 channel source outside, you would select speaker B. Checkout our CL3/Direct Burial Speaker Wire. You would use 16/4 to connect between your receiver and the Volume Control. It features four conductor (R+/- and L+/-) in a single jacket rated for in-wall applications and is approved for direct burial. From the Volume Control you will need 16/2, two conductor speaker wire from the volume control one to the left and a second to the right speaker. Also checkout out Aqua Blue Direct Burial terminating connectors. You will definitely need a pair for each speaker. TL/MA-1794

Fantastic Product!
Ordered two pair of these to be installed around my backyard pool area. Our pool includes a waterfall feature that creates a lot of noise. These speakers perform great and provide enough volume to overcome the waterfall and fill the backyard area with clear, powerful sound. I would highly recommend these speakers to any prospective purchaser! We have ordered five pair of various outdoor speakers from OSD over the years and have always been very satisfied with the quality of the products. The prices are outstanding, shipping is fast and reliable and technical support for the few questions I've had has been great. OSD is, in my opinion, the absolute best!

Great Speakers!
I needed to replace my existing outside speakers. I don't know too much about speakers so I read multiple eviews- probably on 50 different speakers. I went with these as I wanted outside speakers but did not want to mount them on the wall of the house. At first, I was surprised by the size of them, they are much larger than the one's I was replacing. But, once I connected them and turned them on- I was absolutely impressed. The sound is amazing. I was thinking that I might have to purchase a sub woofer before I got them, but, I won't now. Great sound!

Great sound. Great value.
I have used these speakers in the garden for years. Unfortunately a tree falling as a result of Storm Sandy sliced one of them in half. It still works after a winter in the open!! But I decided to replace it and went for the same one.

Outstanding
Hooked the speakers about two weeks ago. I only had a chance to play them over the weekend. The sound is amazing. I intianialy set up wireless speakers and this is a night and day experience. I would strongly recommend these speakers for outside entertainment.

Very Good!!
I paired the speakers with a Sonos connect amp. My music collection and hundreds of radio station are available with a few swipes on my phone or tablet. The speaker sound and look great. Shipping was very fast and everything was well packaged.

Best Outdoor Speakers
I have had a pair of these since 2007. They have worked flawlessly every year. I live in NYC and I leave the speakers out in the elements all year long and have never had any major problems with them. The only issue i have had is the paint faded and I had to respray the speakers. Obviously, this is my fault since I leave the speakers outside all year long.

Great sound// great value
Place on rear of pool in one acre yard. Sound surpasses that of the Bose speakers mounted on the patio. Excellent efficeincy, blends in perfect with existing boulders and landscaping. Wish I could add another pair on the sides. Maybe next summer!

Well worth th money.Compared to Klipsch
I have had the RS840 outdoor rock speakers for two years now. They have survived the winters and rain. They sound as good as the first day I hooked them up. These are hooked up through the out door volume control so it is easy to keep sound down or up depending on you are just listening for background music or for a party.

wow, this place has great stuff ...
i bought thier outdoor sub for my palm springs place ... it raged, big time ... i thought i would get the same at my place by the beach ... glad i got these befor the outdoor sub because it would have been overkill to have both ... these speakers are great 10/10

very good outdoor speakers
i purchased a pair of these speakers approx. 5 years ago to use outside around our pool. they have worked wonderfully and provide crisp sound and decent bass. they really sound good when played loud. probably would be even better if i had them hooked up to a decent source and not the cheap, bookshelf stereo system we use outside. the speakers look good in the landscape as well. this summer, one of the speakers just stopped working. i called customer service and they said sometimes the drivers go out and they could sell me one but i would have to take the bottom off and replace it. no big deal, but i'm busy and just went ahead and bought another set of speakers and then swapped out the bad speaker for one of the new ones and i have another new one waiting in case i have the same problem again. given that the speakers sit outside in the elements all year long and i don't cover them in the winter, i'm not upset that one of them stopped working. i just wish i could have purchased a single speaker as a replacement, but they only sell the HF 14s in pairs.

These speakers truly 'rock'
I had speakers mounted under the eaves on my house and really had to crank up the volume to hear them, but these rock speakers fill my big yard with full rich sound , even at low volumes. Great job at reasonable price.

I replaced my Stereo Stone Gibralter speakers with these because one rotted away. These were 1/4 the price for what seems equal if not better sound and quality. Great Product!!!

Awesome Outdoor!
I recently purchased a pair of the RS840 Outdoor speakers in granite gray. [...]! I set them up and I was blown away with the Bass! I was considering other speakers and none of them had even decent bass. These speakers ROCK, literally, They fill my yard with Powerful,clean sound and Deep Bass. I had about 100 people at a party and they could not believe all that sound was coming from only 2 speakers! I am putting 150 watts into each speaker and they handle it incredibly well! Time will tell how they stand up to the weather but, I could not be any happier with the sound they produce! Long Island, NY

I approached this transaction with trepidation. All the reviews were on target. I purchased a pair of HF14s, hooked them up with 12/2 landscape wire ~80-90 feet away, and - OH MY GOD!!! Sound is excellent! I am totally thrilled with these speakers and two family members want to buy some. Don&#039;t hesitate, these ROCK.

Although I purchased ...
Although I purchased these a few years ago from Outdoor Speaker Depot, I felt the need to review them again since listening to these while working in the yard. They withstand the Cincinnati winter and still fill the entire neighborhood with clean, full sound. Amazing quality at an unbelievable price. This pair combined with a pair of the 6.5" around my small patio allow for theme park quality sound!
