Do you have a projection of when these speakers might be in stock again?
1 Answer
HI Steve: The IW-545 has been discontinued and will not be re stocked. We are actually bringing in a Trim-less versions of the LCR speaker both a Better and Best version including dual 6.5" MTM. These are late spring introduction. We do have stock of the current standard frame MK-IW-550 in stock, the step up with the Kevlar cones and Aluminum dome tweeter. What are the other front stage speakers you are looking at? It is important that all three front stage speakers are the same Timbre match. So the cone material and Tweeters are all the same. TL/4288

What in-wall rear speaker do you recommend to match the IW545?
1 Answer
Hi Evan, That would be the IW540. This will match the IW545 and you can use these for both the rear left/right and the front left/right if you don't already have that covered.

would it be beneficial to mount two IW545's as a center channel speaker (either split or in parallel) with a Denon receiver pushing 90 W per channel? Centering one under TV is not an option, but centering 2 would work.
1 Answer
Hi Tim, That could work but how would you wire it? Parallel? Have you considered an in-ceiling angled speaker for your center?

Can you use these as surround speakers or would you recommend your 8" in wall 2 ways? The front speakers are Klipsch reference.
1 Answer
Hi Doug, I wouldn't recommend these for surround as they are built for center channel. It would be best to use a larger speaker such as 6.5" or 8" for the surround.

Hi all, I am thinking to have 3 IW545 as front right, front left and center in-wall speakers. What are the match for In-Ceiling rear surround ? And could I mount these IW545 vertically? Thanks. TRIEU
1 Answer
Hi Trieu, The matching rear in-ceiling speakers could either bet he ICE540, ICE640 or ICE840. I would recommend the ICE640 so you don't over or under power the fronts. Yes you can mount the IW545 speakers vertically

I am setting a 5.1 system. Two front will be in all IW810. The two rear in ceiling either Ice800 or ICE810. I am looking for the center which is in ceiling. What would you recommend ? I was looking into the IW545m the IW550 or the MK670. Thanks
1 Answer
Hi Jorge, MK670 will match best with our MK Series speakers and is the better sounding in-ceiling center channel. We also have the ICE660.

What is the best way to paint the grilles on these speakers?
1 Answer
Hi Bill, Typically a fine spray paint is going to give the best results, but it's always good to get a professional's opinion. Try asking a paint specialist at your local hardware store to be certain. Thanks! -BM 2514

Can you use this speaker for 5.1 system. Would this be the center or do you buy a regular speaker for center. I have 4 in wall OSD speakers and need a center.
1 Answer
Hi Paisan, Yes. The IW545 is one option for a center channel. You can also checkout the MK-IW550LCR. What speakers are you using as your front left/right? You want to match the center with them as best you can. It's important that the tweeter on the center speaker match the left/right. Let us know. Thanks! -BM 2361

Thank you for quick response! yes I have another question. I have a DLP and it sits of the wall about 18" and its on a 6' entertainment stand the only place I could put the IW545 LCR would be above the tv on the wall and that's about 6'-7' high. Would this still be the correct LCR speaker or should I find one that I can sit on the stand in front of the TV?
1 Answer
Hi Mike, The IW545 LCR speaker should work fine in your application even though it is above the TV. You need to make sure you can aim the tweeter down to your optimum listening/viewing area. It will also be better "time aligned" with the right and left front stage speakers that are mounted in-wall. TL/MA - 1544

Can I use the IW545 as a in ceiling center speaker if I use a back box?
1 Answer
Hi Carsten, Yes, but you need to consider the position of the tweeter. In order for the IW545 to be an effective center channel speaker. the tweeter must be aimed toward the optimum viewing/listening area. For this, you need to mount it almost directly overhead which creates a disconnect between where the TV is mounted and where the sound appears to originate from. That is why ceiling LCR speakers are angled so they can be mounted in the ceiling closer to the wall the TV is mounted on. If the proposed back box mount creates a natural angle that allows the speaker to be located closer to the TV, then you should be fine. TL/MA - 1512

what new construction mounting brackets will I need for this speaker (INDOOR USE)?
2 Answers
Hi Nim, We currently do not sell a bracket for this speaker, although no bracket is needed. You would just make the cut after the dry wall is in place and the dog eared brackets will hold it securely in place. CL
Submitted by: Customer Service - Q&A on June 28, 2012
Hi Nim, All our speakers feature retrofit mounting capability and you do not need a new construction bracket to mount them. As the name implies, new construction brackets are typically used for new construction and help to line up the location of the speaker before the ceiling or sheet rock is installed. In some cases the brackets provide additional support. The IW545 features six mounting points that provide a good tight fit. TL

I'm having these installed for new construction. Do I need to get brackets, and if so which one?
1 Answer
Hi Greg, This particular speaker would not be a good choice since they feature a ported design, which tends to fill up with water if exposed to the elements day and night (even here in Southern California). My best recommendation for outdoor applications in direct exposure is our AP550T stereo speaker (which is a sealed non-ported design) featuring a dual voice coil and dual tweeters. You can either connect one to Speaker A of your amplifier and the second one to Speaker B. That would mean running CL3 16 gauge four conductor cable from your Amplifier /Receiver (right and left +/-) to each speaker. If you only have one set of outputs (only speaker B for instance), then you should considering adding an outdoor Impedance Matching Volume Control like our OVC300. That would allow you to connect two of the AP550TT in parallel and provide the proper impedance back to your power source. Typically, in a patio setting, stereo separation is not as critical for to background music. TL/MA
