If I have a 4 ohm and want to power two pairs of 8 ohm speakers can I use two of these to lower the volume of each pair since two 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel should present a 4 ohm load to the receiver.

Hi Chris, It sounds like you have a high current, 4-ohm amp and two pairs of 8-ohm speakers. You can wire two volume controls in parallel to your 4-ohm amp just like you describe. The resistor-based volume control is the way to go. You won't lose any sound quality and, unlike other volume controls that attenuate the volume, these VCs can be turned completely off! CL/MA 1729

Is this 100 watts per channel?

Hi Kidromel, The OVC205R would have an overall peak of 100 watts. It would not be per channel. CL
