can they survive direct sunlight 24/7 and 130 degree ambient temperatures. I am in a hot spot in Az.
1 Answer
Hi Johnson, That should be fine but the paint could fade over time if in direct sunlight. Best to keep them in shaded spots.

Am I correct in saying these speakers are cordless and transmit sound through your amp?
1 Answer
Hi Len, These are not wireless speakers, but require wire to be ran from an amplifier in order to power them. We do have Bluetooth Wireless outdoor speakers. Check out our BTR-800. Thanks! BM 2771

Are they compatible with sirrus docking station?
1 Answer
Hi Deb, These speakers need to be powered by an amp/receiver. You can run a docking station into an amp/receiver as your music source, but the docking station itself will not power speakers.

Kay
from Texas asked:

Can these plug into a receiver? I want something simple to provide radio/music for outdoor by the pool but am planning on putting them on the patio. I don't know much about this stuff so can I buy an outdoor receiver to plug into an electrical outlet and then plug these into that receiver?
1 Answer
Hi Kay, Yes, these rock speakers will plug directly into a receiver. Many customers will run the wires to a receiver or amplifier located inside the house or inside a shed or enclosed area. These speakers are capable of handing 150 Watts so make sure your receiver has enough power for them (you can check the owners manual). Most receivers are about 100 watts per channel, which would be fine. We offer a small outdoor amp ( MA2), but it may not give you the power you need to really enjoy these speakers. MA 1947

Jim
from Wisconsin asked:
April 4, 2013
I have had these speakers for 3 years now, and this past winter was the 1st I left them out during the winter as they were used a little bit during this time. I ran into an issue that because of snow that was on them, some of the paint/finish has started to come off of the enclosure in spots.....is there anything I can do to remedy this, or even better what do you use to coat the speakers so I could respray them???? thanks
1 Answer
Hi Jim, OSD Audio outdoor speakers are designed for the rigors of even rough climates; however, extreme weather conditions and/or chemicals can compromise even the toughest enclosures. Typically we recommend covering them up during harsh winter months. We also recommend adding a layer clear coat (spray can only) for extra protection. You should be able to touch up the spots with outdoor spray paint that closely matches the color. CL/MA 1767

George
from Orland Park, Illinois asked:

I recently redesigned my outside patio area and am now wanting to add a sound system that will be good sounding, somewhat portable and affordable. I'm considering either the rock speakers or the Omni in ground speakers along with a economically priced receiver that can drive these speakers. I don't see needing more than 2 sets of speakers to cover my area. The only requirement for the receiver is that it have ipod/iphone capabilities(usb). AM/FM is not necessary. I'm looking for some suggestions. Thanks, George
1 Answer
Hi George, The best receiver to drive two pairs of speakers without breaking the bank would be our RX5502 made by Sherwood. While this reasonably priced receiver does not have USB, you can easily connect your iPod or other portable player via the headphone jack or RCA connection using one of our inexpensive RCA to mini adaptors. https://www.outdoorspeakerdepot.com/6ft-mini-to-stereo-adapter.html. The 360-degree dispersion of the omni pair (OS525) would be a great addition if you wanted something placed centrally in your back yard. The rock speakers are one directional so should be aimed at the listening area or along a fence, wall or pool. CL/MA 1676

do they have mount on the back to place them on a retaining wall
1 Answer
Hi Keith, The RS670-JR Rock speakers are designed to function on the ground so there is no mounting hardware included. You might consider switching to our AP670 Patio Speakers which can be mounted on just about any surface that can support the speakers. CL/MA
