OSD Audio's new HDMI Wall Plate Extender kit solves the problem of transmitting HDMI over long wiring runs. The kit transmits high-definition 1080p video, 5.1 surround sound over two CAT-5/6 cables in runs of up to 300ft.
The HDMI Extender Kit allows a high-definition display to be located up to 300ft away from a high-definition source using cat5/e cables. It is fully HDCP compliant and adheres to HDMI v1.3 specification for passing high-definition video and audio signals, and supports resolutions of 720p, 1080i, and 1080p.
How it works?
Have you ever had a situation where you needed to run over 100ft of HDMI cable? Did you know that running HDMI over 100ft can cause signal quality to degrade and will not ensure 1080i and 1080p? If that is the case we have a solution for you. This is the CAT-5 extender for HDMI (sender and receiver). Extends your HDTV display up to 200 feet away from your HDTV source using two CAT-5, CAT5E, or CAT-6 cables. It is equipped with HDMI connectors. Also this is capable of supporting DVI (digital visual interface) equipment when used with a HDMI to DVI adapter. This is perfect for when you want to integrate multiple home theater components in different rooms.
The CAT-5 extender for HDMI sender can be placed near your source such as your dvd player or computer. The CAT-5 extender for HDMI receiver sits next to your HDTV display up to 330ft away. Two CAT-5, CAT5E, or CAT-6 cables (not included) connect the sender and the receiver unit to each other. Includes: 5 VDC Power Supply (approvals include UL and CE).
Attention:
Because the high bandwidth transmitted through the Cat5/Cat6 cables. Please make sure use high quality Cat5 (Plenum) cables and make sure terminating RJ45 connectors carefully. We've found out that sometimes severely bending the Cat5 cables and not making good termination on the RJ45 connectors will cause the failure of the system.
Also, it is a good idea to power down all of your equipment before connecting this device.

I am looking at your HDMI over Cat-5e Baluns. My question is whether the cat-5e have to be shielded or plenum or just standard?

The CAT5 can be any kind - thought the plenum give you the longer spectrum of transmission distance.

Can I use UTP Cat6 for both cables with this product? The product lists UTP but the diagram shows STP for the video line. Thanks!

Yes you can use CAT6 (better than the CAT5).

We do commercial installation for Direct TV, try this product because the price, it works great, never pay $400 for other brands anymore. - Mark
We went to a project in Phoenix Arizona, the previous installer had a $600 Gefen extender that didn't work, installed this and it works like charm, very clear pictures.
Also you might want to power down all equipments if there's no signal initially. - Patrick
