I just received these brackets along with the ICE540 speakers. There is very little information included on how to mount the speakers to the brackets. At first glance, it looks like the bracket holes are too large for the speakers. Are the speakers supposed to be screwed into the mounts or do they sit inside the bracket holes? If they are intended to fit flush/taught into the holes then the bracket and speakers don't mate and the speakers just slip out. Can you please help?

Hi Nimish, The new construction brackets are typically used when the studs or joists are exposed before mounting the sheetrock or ceiling tiles. The two advantages for using brackets are: 1) determining exact placement of the speaker while providing a template to cut the mounting hole; and 2) to provide additional support. All of our speakers including the ICE540 feature a retrofit mounting system so they can be installed without the new construction bracket. Note: the retrofit brackets (commonly referred to as dog ears) must be used in conjunction with the new construction brackets as well. Once you are ready to install the speakers after the ceiling has been installed and your hole has been cut around the new construction bracket, you are ready to mount the speaker. You need to remove the grill so you have access to the four mounting screws that activate the dog ears. These connect the speaker to the mounting bracket. We do have a couple of how to videos on how to install an in ceiling speaker on our web-site: https://www.outdoorspeakerdepot.com/product-video-index.html TL/MA

These brackets don't fit the ICE540 speaker. Can you please tell me if they are supposed to fit snug? If so, how does the bracket hold the speaker? How do you attach the speaker to the bracket?

The lip needs to be turned downward into the actual hole cut out on the drywall or tile. The wings that snap into the center ring work better when the ring is turned down. TL/MA

Is this bracket not compatible with the MK540 speaker?

Hi Nim: The speaker has a cut out dimension of 6 1/2, the other speakers listed all have a cutout of 6 5/8. I am pretty sure you will be able to use this new construction bracket for the MK540 as well. TL
