Features & Specifications

On sale while supplies last. We're winning rave reviews for our 8-inch OSD-P8 home theater subwoofer from Outdoor Speaker Depot. "Don't let the size of this subwoofer fool you," wrote one happy customer. "It packs a punch."

Today's home theater audio/video systems demand powered subwoofers like our 8-inch sub that's perfect for smaller rooms without the space for those big units. Our subwoofer has level controls, as well as speaker and line inputs and outputs. It accommodates variable crossover from 50 Hz to 180 Hz.

The down-firing design means the speaker is mounted at the bottom of the cabinet, giving you more precise sound distribution than front-firing subwoofers. This system works best when firing into hardwood floors or hard surfaces. If your room is carpeted, just cut a piece of wood and place it directly under the sub's feet.

Our compact home theater subwoofer has an integrated 100-watt amplifier with RCA line-level and speaker-level hookups. It comes with a two-year warranty.

What is a down-firing subwoofer?
On a down-firing design, the speaker is mounted at the bottom of the cabinet and (you guessed it!) fires down into the floor. This may seem odd but this design typically gives you better, more precise distribution than front-firing subwoofers. Down-firing subs work best when firing into hard wood floors or hard surfaces so if your room is carpeted, cut a piece of wood and place it directly under the subwoofer’s feet. Other Product Info

Powered subwoofers have become integral to any complete audio/visual system, particularly home theater. Normal speakers leave the very lowest frequencies unheard. Powered subwoofers fill in those blanks. All include level controls and both speaker and line inputs and outputs. Also featuring variable crossover from 50 Hz to 180 Hz and a phase reverse switch.

Can we just use one of the RCA inputs or do we need to purchase a Y-Adaptor for both lines?
1 Answer
Hi Bill: The P8 powered sub recommends using a Y adaptor to connect both the right and left inputs from your single mono sub cable. If you had selected the PS-10 sub, it allows you to plug your single mono cable into the right or left and works just fine with either input. Good luck TL/3682

What material is this woofer made of? I'm thinking of combining this with my patio speakers and hoping it's made of polypropylene or some wheatherproof material.
1 Answer
Hi Alex: This appears to be a Poly treated paper. The S10 is definitely a true Poly woofer and would provide deeper and richer bass. TL/3190

Speaker works well. Dissapointed in hookup system as I could not see prior to order that it required dual input. Thought I was purchasing all I needed for installation and found that I had to find yet one more cord.
ProsGreat price.

Really amazing subwoofer
I set this up yesterday in a medium sized room, I hooked it up to my Denon receiver and put on some DirectTV movie channels and tried a blueray DVD...and HOLY CRAP IT SOUNDS AWESOME! This subwoofer is really powerful, and has great sound. The kind that makes you smile. I highly recommend this subwoofer. I can only imagine how much more epic the larger versions of this are.
ProsSmall & powerful.

Don't let the size of this subwoofer fool you. Its compact, however it packs a punch! Excellent quality speaker and at a great price! If you want a low profile subwoofer, I would definitely recommend the OSD-P8 subwoofer!

Small but nice sound
Used as the sub for my home set.It is a nice sub sounds good, nice bass and it blends in well with my speakers but I returned because it couldn't get as loud as I wanted from it.It was my fault didn't think my other speaker would over power it but at the lower volumes I can tell that it is missing from my set up.Helpfully I can get a refund and get the S-12 from osd.I'm pretty sure that if P8 sound very good this one will be even better.I will also have a review for the S-12.The P8 will work great with smaller set up and small room.It has a lot of power for its size.
ProsGood Power Output, Easy To Setup, Small, Great Sound Quality, Big sound

I bought this subwoofer ...
I bought this subwoofer for my home office. I like the size, it is the smallest sub I could find. The performance is sufficient for a room this size (12X15), and the controls enable me to contour the sound for good balance with my bookshelf speakers in the room. I would go for a bigger sub for a larger room, but for a small room and the price, I'm very happy.
