This super sturdy, easy to install outdoor volume control can be used for one pair (two speakers). A pure resonance resistor-based volume control, it can handle up to 300 watts of optimal sound with minimal bass roll-off. The control board is prewired and the wires are clearly labeled, making installation easy, and this product can take the rigors of outdoor environments. You can use these along with one of our speaker selectors for a whole-house audio system at an affordable price.

Attention: This is not a impedance-matching type volume control.

Ken • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I have a Denon AVR-X40000 receiver. Going to install a pair of Definitive Technology AW6500 outdoor speakers in my backyard under the eves of my house. the speakers are 8 ohm and can handle up to 200 watts each. I'm using Audioquest 14/4 speaker wire from the receiver to the speakers. Less than a 100'. Would like to hook up a speaker volume control outside. Which one would you recomend ? Thanks
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
I have a 7.1 speaker setup in my living room. I called Denon and they told me I had to disconnect the surround back wires in back of the receiver and connect the outdoor speaker wires to this connection using Zone 2 or 3. I would now have a 5.1 setup in my living room. If I wanted to keep the 7.1 setup, I would have to use the pre-amp connection with an external amp to power the outdoor speakers.
Michael DeLaney • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM This will work for one pair of 6 OHM Yamaha's NS-AW150WH, correct?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Michael: This is a Resistor based Volume Control that has no Impedance matching capability. The 6 ohm Yamaha's will show the Receiver/Amplifier a 6 ohm load. Which is OK if you are planning just to connect a single pair of Yamaha's connected to it. If you are planning to do multiples you will need a Speaker Selector that has good internal protection to handle the Impedance matching. Note, this are considered a little better sounding volume control with a broader Frequency Response with no high or low end roll off. It is considered break before make design so there is no connection between clicks so you have to be careful on your source volume levels when attenuating the sound with the OVC305R. TL/4290
Doug • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I'd like to mount this in a recessed box in my exterior siding. I'd keep the faceplate, knob, etc. Does it come apart?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
HI Doug: If you are placing this in a weatherproof box and don't need the Weatherproof housing then look at the VKR-120 which is the same Resister based Volume Control with removable face plate and knob. Good luck TL/4456
Danny • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM In my setup I will have Yamaha RX-V377 Front L and Front R go to Steren 400Watt, 4 channel speaker selector then it will go to two Klipsch KHO-7 (75W min and 300W max) or room's 5.1 theater system. Will OVC305R work fine with speaker selector in the picture?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Danny: The OVC305R would be your best match with the Steren Speaker Selector. Since the Steren has automatic internal protection you do not (or should not) use Impedance Matching Volume Controls. You do not need a volume control for each zone either. Normally if you use impedance matching volume controls you need to make sure all zones are covered and you use speaker selectors where you can defeat the internal protection so you are not double dipping. So the OVC305 R resistor based Volume Control is the perfect choice for one or two zones or for all four. TL/4911
Matthew Tevald • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM My amplifier spec is 50 Watt RMS per channel at 4 ohms. I currently have 2 pairs of 8ohm speakers connected to it without any issues. Can I connect an OVC305R to control the volume of both speaker pairs?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Matthew: The OVCR305R is a better choice versus the OVC300 as long as you do not need Impedance Matching. And that seems to be the case based upon your description. There is no high or low-end roll-off and a broader Frequency response, and unlike the typical Transformer style when you turn the knob fully counterclockwise, it shuts the Volume Control off. Another difference is this is a "Break before Make design" so there is no sound between clicks. The Break before make most notable when you have the master volume at its highest level and then start slowly turning the volume down. But this is all about listening to music and the OVC305R is a step up. TL/5480
