Lifetime Tech Support

Designing and building an amazing surround sound system begins with the right separates and paramount to the mix is the right multi-channel amplifier. This amplifier is a 5-channel Class H amp that supplies 180W per channel of clean power, and when paired with great speakers like ours, you'll hear music and movie soundtracks with exceptional detail, accuracy and warmth. The advanced circuitry, wide bandwidth, and low distortion capabilities of this amp allow listeners to hear spine-tingling sonic nuances, and this beefy amp can be matched with even power-hungry in-wall or freestanding loudspeakers. Designed with a high-output toroidal power supply and ample heat sinks to keep things cool, this amp has a clean, brushed metal finish and front panel status indicators that add a high-tech ambiance to any equipment rack.

Includes Balanced and Unbalanced Inputs
This high current home theater amplifier includes both balanced and unbalanced inputs for more flexible installation options and cable runs. XLR inputs (balanced) include a ground wire which make it a good choice for long (up to 2000 ft) cable runs, while unbalanced (RCA) provide a more reliable signal on shorter runs.

Advanced Class H Hybrid Technology
Our amplifier is a Class H amplifier that combines the benefits of Class A/B in a more efficient package. Class H amplifiers are a variation of Class A/B amps but include high voltage and low voltage rails to modulate power consumption. When power is running high, the amp switches to the high voltage rails. When the amp is running low, it switches to the low voltage rails. The result is more efficiency, cooler temperatures, and a reduction in power consumption while maintaining the warmth and accuracy of a true A/B amp without the "digital" drawbacks (like interference) of Class D amps.

28 Questions asked on 5X Channel Hi Fidelity Home Theatre Amplifier, Class H 180W/channel Full Five Channel Driven XA5180

Erick Martinez • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q Is this made by Carver amps? I ask the question because this OSD amp is very similar in all aspects ( except pricing) to the Carver HTA 5A 5 channel amp. Not only similar in the front pannel, but rear pannel, interior H design, even the way the wires and boards are position.
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A Hi Erick: We are now the Global distributors for The CARVER brand name. The factory who owns the brand name also built the unit for us as well. We have the XA5180 on special to help move inventory. Otherwise, it should be the same price as the CARVER. TL/5274
Fabian • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q Hello, I sent an email to support@osdaudio.com on September 21, 2018 inquiring about the following, but to date I have received no response. I would like to purchase the XA5180 or the Black A5500. Can you please clearly explain (i) what are the differences between these models and (ii) where I can purchase the Black A5500, since it is not listed on the outdoorspeakerdepot.com website. However, it is listed on the osdaudio.com website. If you click on the image of the Black A5500 on the osdaudio.com website, an image of the XA5180 comes up. Can you please clarify. Also is there a manual of the Black A5500 online that can be downloaded Your urgent attention is appreciated. Thank you
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A Hi Fabian: Both five channel Amplifiers are the same. We have the unit on sale on the Outdoor speaker depot.com website due to overstock. There is an owner's manual you can download off the OSD Audio Premium website; Black Series/Amplifiers/A5500. Also, check out the Black Friday special going on as well. There is free shipping as well on this Amplifier. TL/5284
Davone Irby • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q I have this amp bought it over Christmas holidays and I have a couple of questions what is the power rating at 3 channel driven and what is the power rating with 4 channels driven
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A Hi Davone: The rating when all 5 channels are driven is 125Watts at 8 ohms and 180 watts driven at 4 ohms. The factory has told us if you connect channels 1, 3, and 5 it is 200 watts at 8 ohms 250 Watts at 4 ohms. Four Channels 1, 2, 4, and 5 would be 160 Watts at 8 ohms and 220 Watts at 4 ohms. Note: If your Receiver has a Balance Differential connection so you can connect the Receiver and Amplifier using Balanced XLR cables you will also gain an additional 6 to 10dB increase. Good choice TL/5392

Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A Actually, the previous answer about XLR inputs is partly wrong. Usng the XLR output will not change the amount of power the amplifier delivers. It will potentially result in quieter operation, which could be a benefit.
