Features & Specifications

Sold as a single speaker, the ICE620TT in-ceiling speaker offers high performance at a surprisingly affordable price. Every model uses components usually found only in architectural speakers costing considerably more. Rated at 125W power handling, the ICE620TT includes a 6 1/2" polypropylene woofer with dual voice coil and two 5/8" center mounted tweeters.

What Is a Dual Voice Coil Ceiling Speaker?
A Dual Voice Coil (DVC) Ceiling Speaker uses a special voice coil cone design that allows both channels of a stereo system to drive one cone. Sounds complicated but it's not. Basically, a DVC speaker plays both right and left channels through one speaker cone. You get both channels but without the acoustic separation that happens with two speakers. There are places like bathrooms, closets or hallways that just can’t accommodate multiple speakers so a DVC speaker solves the problem and produces great sound.

What Type of Cable Should I Use?
Wiring is not included with in-ceiling speakers so you will have to purchase some. While wiring requirements will depend on your local building codes, OSD Audio offers CL3/FT4 cable that is UL (fire) rated for all residential and most commercial in-wall and in-ceiling applications. (The exception is you cannot run this cable in heating or cooling ducts in commercial applications.) This cable includes a heavy-duty outer jacket approved for in-wall/in-ceiling installation. The high quality plastic jacket is also very flexible so it's easy to run the wires inside the wall.

For a retrofit installation, no construction bracket is needed.

Other Product Info

OSD in-wall and in-ceiling speakers offer high performance and great appearance at a surprisingly affordable price. Every model uses components usually found only in architectural speakers costing considerably more.
Polypropylene cones, PCB crossover networks and weather- resistant construction are standard on many of the models. When price is a concern and other higher-end speakers don't fit the budget, this is the logical choice. This series is ideal for use in production homes, large commercial background music and video applications. With different models to choose, you no longer need to compromise between budget restraints and great sound.

Can these be used in a car.
1 Answer
Hi Jim, The ICE620TT ceiling speakers are designed for indoor use and rated at 8 ohms. If your amp is 8 ohms, you should be able to drive the speakers without issue. CL/MA 1977

I am buying these for my bathroom and kitchen ceilings. The area above each room is about 20 inches deep with a concrete ceiling and contains many pipes/ducts. Will the sound transmit to the condo above me? Is there something I can do?
1 Answer
Hi Sherry, Ceiling speakers like the ICE620TT use an 'infinite baffle' design, where the ceiling cavity acts as the speaker enclosure. Although unlikely that the sound will transmit to the above floor, there are a couple things you can do if you are concerned. You can insulate the cavity with fiberglass insulation around the back of the speaker; just be sure to follow safety protocol. You can also build a custom back box or buy a back box like our BB6. These are not required, however, and you should be fine. CL/MA 1822

Is any special hardware required to install this speaker in a suspended ceiling. The tiles are 2'x2'. The space above the ceiling is approximately 30 inches high and is open above all 4 rooms.
1 Answer
Hi Tom, You should have no problem installing these speakers without additional hardware. The speakers feature dog-eared clasps around the trim that secure the speaker into place. Since it is drop ceiling, you may want to put a small block of wood inside the ceiling for each clasp to clamp down on but it is not required. CL/MA 1600
