The ISS4 High Power Speaker Selector is an easy and effective way to distribute music to up to four listening zones (four pairs of speakers) and play any pair, a combination of pairs, or all pairs simultaneously. Easy to connect with a low-profile design that easily fits into a cabinet or equipment rack.n choose. Front-panel push buttons let you quickly turn each pair of speakers on or off independently, and die cut labels fit within the recessed area on the buttons for easy labeling of each zone. A passive device that does not require power to operate, the ISS4 also includes impedance-matching circuitry so you can safely drive all four pairs at once without damaging your receiver or amp. Designed with quality in mind, the ISS4 is constructed of 16-gauge steel with a durable black powder coating and gray silk-screening.

    Features
    • Distributes audio from a receiver or amp to multiple pairs of speakers
    • Send one signal to up to four pairs of speakers in different listening zones
    • Impedance protection allows a single amplifier to safely power multiple speakers
    • Removable input/output connectors allow easy cable termination
    • Includes on/off switches for each zone
    • Low profile with beautiful black brushed aluminum finish
    • Works with any amplifier
    • Includes a two-year warranty
    Upgraded Input/Output Connectors
The ISS4 is easy to install (even for non-technical types) and accepts up to 14-gauge cable. The European-style input/output connectors are removable, which gives you better leverage when terminating cable than traditional spring-loaded terminals. This speaker selector takes either four or two conductor speaker wire stripped at the ends that are inserted into the screw-down input/output terminals for a tight fit to ensure the best signal transmission and sound quality possible.

Protecting Valuable Audio Equipment with Impedance Protection
When connecting multiple speakers to a receiver or amplifier, you need to stay above the amp's minimum load requirements. Going below the impedance rating can overheat or even damage expensive equipment. The ISS4 includes selectable impedance matching protection circuitry that allows a single amplifier to safely power several pairs of speakers. The speaker selector handles 140 watts per channel total input power without the manual protection engaged and 70 watts per channel with the protection engaged.

John • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I am totally confused by your answer to Pascal from the Netherlands which is "Your receiver is designed to drive as many speakers as it has outputs. Therefore, we would not recommend doubling that with a speaker selector". I thought the whole purpose of the speaker selector was to allow you to hook up more pairs of speakers to a receiver that it can handle? I have a receiver that can handle 2 pairs of speakers but we have 4 pair in our house. Please clarify. Thanks.

Bob • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I have a Sony multi channel av receiver model str-dg720. Can I use this speaker selector to control 2 different sets of ap525 outdoor speakers? One set for my patio and one set for my deck. Can I run both sets at the same time? I love the speakers and want to use them both at the same time or one zone at a time.

Hi bob, I wouldn't recommend running a speaker selector with a receiver, because receivers typically can't handle anything but an 8 ohm load. You can use the speaker selector to do what you want, but I would talk to Sony first to see if they recommend doing that or not.
Dennis • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Hi..just received the ISS4 SPEAKER SELECTOR..The instructions that came with it do not mention removing the rear connectors to wire the speakers. In addition, no amount of "gentle rocking" will budge these connectors to remove them. So what am I missing here?? How do I remove the connectors to wire them up? Whats the secret? Thanks, Dennis

Hi Dennis, Thanks for asking. Believe it or not, those phoenix connectors on the back do unplug.
bob • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM CanI use this selector to control 2 sets of outdoor speakers in 2 zones? 1 set over my patio and 1 set over my deck. I'm using a sony multi channel av receiver str-dg720. Any info would be appreciated.

Bob, Yes. This product will take the power from your amp and distribute it to how ever many of the 4 zones that you have active. These zones can be wired to any area in or outside your house. Thanks. -BM 2209
Steven • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I have this 4 zone selector with 4 zones in my whole house system. However, I have 2 pair of speakers on one of my zones and 1 pair and an additional rock speaker for my outside zone. Total number of speakers is 11. 1 zone has 4 speakers, one has 3, and the other two zones have 1 pair each. This selector simply can't handle all these speakers I don't think. It will cut off the music if I have all the zones on at once. I turned off the protector and it started smoking. I am using the amp that is sold on this website for a 4 zone system in case you need to know that. I guess I am wondering what I need to buy to make the set up I have work. Rewiring is not an option.

Hi Steven: What happened to the four SVC-100 volume Controls you purchased? They should be used for the basic protection of your system including the ISS4. Based upon speakers connected you should have each volume controls set to 8x and then make sure the ISS4's protection switch is turned off (disabled). If you left the Volume control settings to 1/2x and then tried to protect the system with the switch on the ISS4 then it became a big fuse that was ready to blow. Your amplifier has plenty of horsepower but the power is cut in half when you enable the protection circuit on the ISS4 in conjunction with the SVC-100. You might also want to add a second RS660OM speaker to make two pair of speakers on the outdoor zone. So the question is did you use the Volume Controls in the system and how were they configured.
