The ISS4 High Power Speaker Selector is an easy and effective way to distribute music to up to four listening zones (four pairs of speakers) and play any pair, a combination of pairs, or all pairs simultaneously. Easy to connect with a low-profile design that easily fits into a cabinet or equipment rack.n choose. Front-panel push buttons let you quickly turn each pair of speakers on or off independently, and die cut labels fit within the recessed area on the buttons for easy labeling of each zone. A passive device that does not require power to operate, the ISS4 also includes impedance-matching circuitry so you can safely drive all four pairs at once without damaging your receiver or amp. Designed with quality in mind, the ISS4 is constructed of 16-gauge steel with a durable black powder coating and gray silk-screening.

Upgraded Input/Output Connectors
The ISS4 is easy to install (even for non-technical types) and accepts up to 14-gauge cable. The European-style input/output connectors are removable, which gives you better leverage when terminating cable than traditional spring-loaded terminals. This speaker selector takes either four or two conductor speaker wire stripped at the ends that are inserted into the screw-down input/output terminals for a tight fit to ensure the best signal transmission and sound quality possible.
Protecting Valuable Audio Equipment with Impedance Protection
When connecting multiple speakers to a receiver or amplifier, you need to stay above the amp's minimum load requirements. Going below the impedance rating can overheat or even damage expensive equipment. The ISS4 includes selectable impedance matching protection circuitry that allows a single amplifier to safely power several pairs of speakers. The speaker selector handles 140 watts per channel total input power without the manual protection engaged and 70 watts per channel with the protection engaged.

Bob • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I have 12 guage wire for a long run to outside speakers. Will thsi handle this thick of wire?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PMBob, The Iss4 accepts up to a 14 gauge wire, sometimes installers will thin the end of the larger wire down to fit into the terminal. CL
Harry • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Would I need anything other than a normal amplifier and passive speakers to use this? Would I need impedance matching volume controls, whatever they are?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PMHarry, The ISS4 already has impedance matching so you can use a resitor based volume control if you would like to add that in. Take a look at the VKR120. CL
Kevin • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Hello, I have a monster of an amplifier (8000 Watts to 8 channels)--can I use this selector? Why isn't there an individual 'in' for every 'out'? Amp details: http://www.pyleaudio.com/sku/PT8000CH/19-Rack-Mount-8000-Watt-8-Channel-StereoMono-Amplifier. Thanks, k
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PMHi Kevin, This speaker selector is intended for one amp to drive 4 pairs of speakers with a capability of 140 Watts per channel max. Ideally, the ISS4 unit would be used with an amp ranging from 100W – 300W. My recommendation for you would be to use several of our volume controls with on/ off switch - The SVC205 you would give you volume and zone control in each room. It will have an On/ Off switch, check your owners manual for the diagram showing how to use volume controls. The SVC205 will give you the same function as a speaker selector, but the control will be in each room. You will set the impedance matching to 1/2X for each volume control. The on /off capability will allow you to shut off the respective zone at the Volume Control itself. Just turning the VC all the way down does not disconnect. CL/MA
Vinay • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Hello: I am looking to connect 3 pairs of "Polk Audio RC80i 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers". Would it be possible with this? 2. I have been recommended to get this "Russound SS-4.2". Instead, I am planning on getting this item. Am I missing anything or will this item suffice what the SS4.2 is supposed to do. TIA! Vinay
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM871 Hi Vinay, The Russound piece is an excellent unit. It does have a nice feature that has protection for your amplifier/receiver; otherwise they are similar. I am partial to our DSM4 which is the next step up and adds dual source (switchable per zone), a European style removable input/output connector and a brushed aluminum faceplate for cosmetic appeal. All three will take care of your application. TL/MA
Don • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I have three pair of speakers that I am trying to connect to the Iss4 can you give me some help connectins my speakers
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PMHi Don: The ISS4 connects to the Receiver/Amplifier with two two conductor cables (right and left, +/-). You start with the connection to the receiver look for speaker A output assuming you are connecting to a two channel stereo receiver. Or if it is a Audio Video Amplifier featuring a second zone output you can connect to that. Then connect to the Right and Left inputs of the ISS4 (color coded Red for + and Black for -). Each pair of speakers will be connected to dedicated zone again matching up the right and left outputs of each zone. Look at our CL3 16/2 speaker wire that comes in a single white jacket with two internal conductors (with red and black jackets). Just make sure you connect the red to the positive input of the speaker and black to the negative input. Do that for Zone 1, Zone 2 and Zone 3. Make sure the protection switch on the front of the ISS4 is enabled (pushed in). You have an on off button for each zone on the front panel of the ISS4 (pushed in is active). Make sure all the equipment is turned off before making and completing all connections. Any problems just contact us again. TL
