Features & Specifications

Another very popular model ceiling speaker, the OSD ICE650 takes you to a new level of audio with high-end features such as powerful KevlarŪ woofer cones, high quality chrome back surface, gold-plated compression terminals and a 12dB/12dB crossover just to name a few. KevlarŪ is a super strong material known for its ability to produce powerful but very smooth bass tones. KevlarŪ woofer cones retain their shape even at very high energy levels, which means you can crank up the volume and experience spine-tingling sound without distortion or coloration. Sold in pairs, the ICE650 in-ceiling speaker's sophisticated crossover network provides an exceptional blend of low- and top-end frequency response and a pivoting 1” aluminum dome tweeter can be aimed at the listening areas. All these features make the ICE650 in-ceiling speakers a perfect choice for high-end home theater installations or listening rooms and we’ll stand them up to competing speakers that cost twice or even three times more.

No Rust Powder Coated Aluminum Grille
Many OSD in-ceiling speakers include powder-coated grilles that will not rust. This makes these ceiling speakers ideal for bathrooms, laundry rooms or even covered patios. Keep in mind, however, that these in-ceiling speakers are not outdoor speakers and should not be exposed to a lot of moisture.

For a retrofit installation, no construction bracket is needed.

Other Product Info

The ICE650 is perfect for high-powered whole house systems designed for large spaces. Premium technologies such as KevlarŪ woofers, pivoting aluminum dome tweeters and sophisticated crossovers; provide deep bass and exceptional top-end frequency response.

KevlarŪ is the best component for woofers, it responds note for note without coloration and has big cranking power so you can dial up your system for higher listening levels.

Ceiling speakers with 6.5" KevlarŪ woofers, cast magnesium woofer baskets, 1" aluminum dome pivoting tweeters, and 150 watt power handling.

Looking at these speakedz, what is the RMS or nominal rated power? I have an amp which is 55 watts at 8 ohms and trying to see how these will work for a new house.
1 Answer
HI Matt: Great choice. They are typically rated at 10 to 150 Watts. Plus at 92dB sensitivity that tells us they are very efficient and does not take a lot to drive them. TL/4716

I bought 4 of these recently. Love the sound, but I can not get the grills on to save my life! What is the secret? They appear to be slightly too large.

Hi Wade, We have the perfect video for that! The grilles are on tight for reason but there is a technique to getting them off. Take a look and if you still have trouble, call us. CL/MA1784

Currently remodeling my house...I just installed two IW690 speakers in my living room for Left and Right in my living room home theater. I have not been able to try them out because my stereo closet is not powered yet. I'm thinking of getting the ICE650 for my Zone 2 in the kitchen. i don't have a subwoofer in the kitchen. Do you think these will deliver enough bass for quality music listening for a guy that appreciates good sound?
1 Answer
Hi Keith, The ICE650s are an excellent choice, but if you want more bass you should step up to the ICE850s. An 8-inch speaker goes a little lower on the frequency response. In this case, the ICE850 goes down to 26Hz versus 30Hz on the ICE650. Both choices are excellent, however. TL/MA 1425

Mike, I would go with our ice650 in your office, as well as our ice850 in your shop since its larger. Those are our best selling speakers and in my opinion our best deals too! CL

Hi Mike: CL, hit it on the head recomending using 8" in the larger area... Here is something else to think about... regarding the source as well... Option#1: OSD PA190 70 Volt Power Amplifier with intercom capability to power 4 ICE640ST for your office and 4 ICE840 for your warehouse. I am assuming you have a drop down tile ceiling for your warehouse as well. These are unique that they feature dedicated back boxes. These are wired in parallel from speaker to speaker. Each spekaer features a summed Monofull range signa. Plus you hae voice over intercom capabilityl Option#2: AMP200 Power Amplifier, DSM8 Dual source speaker selector and 4 each of the ICE640TT for the office and 4 each of the ICE840TT for the Warhouse. These are summed mono stereo speakers that could be connected to single zone of the DSM8 speaker selector. No only would you have the ability of turning each speaker on and off but have a choice of A or B source for each speaker. So you could play different music in the office while listening to something else in the warehouse. The amp also features automatic source switching so source #1 could be connected to your computer to play an iTunes library or be connected to streaming intenet radio. You could then connect an iPod to source #2 which would be active once source #1 was turned off. The DSM8 speaker selector features dual speaker level (amplifier signal) connection so the AMP200 would be source number one and either a receiver or another ampifier could be connected for source number two. If you would like to discuss these and other option please contact our specialists Chris Mirsch at or you can all him at 1-888-779-4968 and ask for Chris

Hi. Looking to run 4 of these speakers in a theater room. I'm on a budget and would like to know if these put out good amount of bass?
1 Answer
These are audiophile quality speakers that are rated to go down to 30Hz for plenty of bass. Home Theater on a budget sounds like you are not using a 5.1 audio/video receiver and instead going with two pairs of speakers connected to a external amplifier (which you may already own) using your TV as one of the sources. You also were comparing these speakers to the ACE645 invisible 61/2" in-ceiling speakers. These feature a cosmetically appealing frameless grille more so than their overall sound quality and bass response. But at $79.50 versus $119.90 you could add a dedicated powered subwoofer like our S-10 for a little more money. We also offer the broadest selection of Custom Home Theater speakers including In-wall and In-ceiling LCR (left, center and right) options, Surround Speakers and Powered Subwoofers. We even have 5.1 and 7.1 Audio/Video Receivers! TL/MA
