Features & Specifications

On sale while supplies last. Adding the right subwoofer to your home theater can mean the difference between nice sound and HOLY COW! If you're thinking about adding a subwoofer to your surround sound set up, take a look at the OSD S-12; it's one of the most affordable and feature-rich subwoofers on the market. This stand-alone sub includes a 12-inch driver and 150 Watts of power. This sub can tackle medium and larger size home theater rooms (300-500 square feet). For smaller rooms, check out the S-10. In addition to home theaters, the S-12 can be added to your satellite speaker system or two-channel systems for more bass.

Installation Ability: Novice
The S-12 is easy to install and connects to the line level subwoofer output (variable) or LFE output (fixed) on your audio/video receiver. Because it has a built-in amp, there are no additional power requirements to worry about but be mindful that powered subwoofers are heavy.

What's a down-firing sub?
The S-12 uses a down-firing design, which means the speaker is mounted at the bottom of the cabinet firing down into the floor. The bass distribution of this design is typically more equal and precise than front-firing subwoofers, but down-firing subs work best when firing into hard wood floors or hard surfaces. If you have carpeting, you may want to cut a piece of wood and place directly under the subwoofer’s feet. Zoom into the pictures and you'll see that the S-12 has a front firing tuned 3-inch port. The down firing, front tuned port design allows the sub cabinet to be smaller, more efficient and ultimately less expensive.

Other Product Info

Powered subwoofers have become integral to any complete audio/visual system, particularly home theater. Normal speakers leave the very lowest frequencies unheard. Powered subwoofers fill in those blanks. All include level controls and both speaker and line inputs and outputs.

Can i Run this sub woofer and 4 bose speakers in my covered patio with your AMP200 High Current Class A/B 2 Channel Amplifier 200-Watts (2 Ohm stable) Bridged Mono 250-Watt
1 Answer
HI Joey: Great choices, The AMP200 will have no problem powering the 4 BOSE speakers (2 pair?) while also connecting to the sub with a pre-amp output. You will use the Input #2 for your source input and connect the S-12 Powered Sub-woofer to Output #2 which is a direct pass through from the Input#2. Also checkout the PS-12 Front firing sub-woofer for double the power and might be more suitable for a semi outdoor setup like you are talking about. 300 watts versus 150 Watts. Also wire a pair of the BOSE to Speaker A and the second Pair to Speaker B. TL/3828

Great Sub
My first down firing sub replacing my JBL. Have hardwood floors now and it really fires cleanly into the floor and adds the umph with my Yamaha 3060 9.1 system.

Nice sub
I did a review yesterday but I needed add something about the auto on. The power LED stays on all the time but if you are very close to the amp you can tell when it kicks off. It has a really really low hum to it, when it is on but you can not hear it unless you are inches from the amp but it doesn't when it is waiting for the signal from your receiver. One other thing I said that the sub sound over powered with really really heavy bass songs. I was wrong adjusted my receiver today cranked It up this sub held its on never distorted. The more I went up on the volume the louder it got. Man this is a great sub. If you can't get the PS series you should try the S series. I'm happy OSD had these in stock.
ProsGreat Sound Quality, Good Power Output, Easy To Set Up

This sub is great for the home theater
I reviewed the p8 sub but I returned lacked the bass that I needed.I was going get the S-10 but they were sold out couldn't wait 3 months for them to come in.I bought the S-12 instead and I'm happy with it. Ups need to take it easy on the packages though, they cracked the wood enclosure a little bit and they knock the port loose put In back in no biggie. Now to get to the good part this subwoofer puts out excellent sound for movies and music. I put in the movie Reel Steel it felt like the robots had the floor shaking for real. Put on pop, rap,r&b,and some country music it did good on all of them without straining. This sub seems to be able to get a little lower then the specs but sometimes with a really heavy bass song I think the sub was over powered but all in all this is a good sub so give it a try it will fool you with the power it has. The downfiring sub is better built then it appears in the picture. The auto on work great it power up as soon as it get the signal from the a/v even at very low volumes but there a few things that are not as pictured. The adjustable frequency goes from 50 up 150 not to 250 which is no biggie and also you only have on or auto on for the switch no off which is no biggie. You just cut it off with the main power switch. This sub will bring your movies to life and make your music sound nice. I'm glad I got this 12 inch sub don't know how the 10 inch sound or the front firing subs sound but they are going to have to get it to sound better than the S-12.

I wrote a review that didnt seem to be good enough to be posted??? I'm writing another.. THis speaker is awesome for the price-however it needs to be shimmed higher from floor to get the "punch" you are expecting. I have newer thick taller yarned carpet and if I shim this up off the ground a bit it is amazing! I really wish OSD could include different size bottom shims to swap out to accomadate this issue. Other than that it's a must buy.
ProsGreat Sound Quality, Easy To Setup, Easy to Mount, Good Power Output, Attractive Design
ConsNeeds shimmed higher
