· Pivoting aluminum dome tweeter
· Spray paintable grilles to match any décor

Trimless Speakers
The Architectural Ceiling Element (ACE) Trimless Series of ceiling speakers are ideal for new construction or retrofit. These elegant, flush mounted speakers blend effortlessly into any room interior and offer outstanding audio performance. The secret behind these stealthy speakers are the micro flange grilles attached by extremely powerful magnets that stay put for quick and easy installation.

Butyl Rubber Surround
With almost double the shelf life of foam, butyl rubber is the choice of speaker designers. Butyl rubber allows the use of unique cone materials like KevlarŪ and mineral-filled composites. Butyl Rubber also gives the speaker more excursion capability featuring a deeper bass with a wider frequency response, and its shelf life is closer to 25 years compared to the foam at 12 to 15 years.

What Type of Wire and What Gauge?
We recommend OSD Audio CL3/FT4 cable that is UL (fire) rated for in-wall and outdoor speaker installs. This type of cable includes a heavy-duty outer jacket approved for in-wall/in-ceiling installation. The high quality plastic jacket is also very flexible so it's easy to run the wires inside the wall. As for the gauge, for runs up to 100 feet for background music, 16-gauge will be fine. If the run is approaching or exceeding 100 feet, we suggest 14-gauge wire.

For a retrofit installation, no construction bracket is needed.

Please note: Use cut-out diameter according to the bullet point on the website.

Other Product Info

With a look deriving from famous World War II British Spitfire Jets, a new sophisticated crossover and the best component materials available, the ACE650 Spitfire Ultra Reference Series are the best ceiling speakers on the market. Premium technologies such as KevlarŪ woofers, pivoting aluminum dome tweeters and sophisticated crossovers provide deep bass and exceptional top-end frequency response. KevlarŪ is the best component for woofers. It responds note for note without coloration and has big cranking power so you can dial up your system for higher listening levels. You won't find yourself wishing for more or less treble, mid-range or bass output from one speaker just because you don't happen to sit right between them.

Are these okay for an Atmos install or should I select a speaker that states rated for Atmos?
1 Answer
Hi Shonn: These will work for Dolby Atmos both the Front ATMOS and Rear Atmos speakers, but we typically recommend using the ACE670 Angled LCR speakers for Dolby Atmos. They allow more flexibility for speaker placement due to their 15-degree dispersion (plus another 5 degrees from the pivoting Tweeter). The ACE670 LCR speaker is ideal for Surround/Effects speakers and the ACE870 work best for the Front Stage LCR. The ACE650 must be mounted almost directly overhead and limited to the 5 degrees of the Tweeter. The key to any home Theater system is the Tweeter which on all of the speakers needs to point directly point at your optimum viewing/listening area. Check out any AV Receiver surround system diagrams they all feature speakers on the same plane. Most of these companies do not offer the and in-ceiling option. TL/5194

I am trying to decide between these speakers and some ace840. These seem higher quality, but the others are larger... I was going to get 2 sets one for a larger master bedroom 350sq ft ceilings, and another set for a covered deck... what are your recommendations?
1 Answer
Hi Jim, The ACE650MKs are the top of the line and feature Kevlar cones, butyl rubber surrounds and an elaborate crossover network. Typically in a bedroom, you want to be able to listen while in bed so a pair of the ACE650 placed 12 feet apart with a speaker mounted above the bed on either side would be ideal, making sure to pivot the tweeter facing down towards the pillows. The ICE840 may be a better choice for outside where you will need a broader sound field. Both speakers are an excellent choice. I hope that helps Tim L

Hi, Looking to install in new construction and you have 3 6.5" brackets available for this size - will any work with this speaker?
1 Answer
Hi Pat, You would want to measure the hole in your new construction brackets and compare it to the cutout size of the ACE650 speakers. If the cutout size is slightly smaller than the hole in your brackets, but not too much smaller, then it should work.

is this model discontinued or will be available again?
1 Answer
Hi Antony, We have discontinued this model. It will not be available again, but we are going to bring in a new line of trimless, thin-bezel ceiling speakers. We do have the MK650, which is the same speaker but with a trim around it. If you are interested in trimless though, check out our MK690TT. Let us know if you have any questions. BM 2622

The new construction brackets for these seem to be out of stock for at least a month. I need brackets next week for the house we're building. Are there other brackets out there from other manufacturers that will work with these or are they unique? I may have to purchase speakers elsewhere if not...
1 Answer
Hi Jeremy, The ACE650MK ceiling speaker does not list a bracket that goes with it, and a bracket is not needed. Like all of our speakers, the ACE650MK has dog-eared clasps that secure into the ceiling for a retro-fit installation. All you need to do is make the cut. If you prefer, you could compare the cutout size with that of another manufacturer's speaker to determine if that bracket would work. CL/MA 2023

I want to install these speakers in my living room as surround speakers ( the 2 back/side speakers in a 5.1 setup) The living room is about 20 feet x 17 feet. Should I step up to the bigger size or will these be just fine?
1 Answer
Hi Stelios, Although the 8" are not much more and you are right on the cusp as far as dimensions to step up -the larger size, the ACE650MK's will give you enough sound for your home theater. However, if you are considering the 8-inch speaker, it wouldn't hurt to go bigger. ACE850MK would be the part number. CL 1376

Hi! How many speakers do you recomend for a 270sq ft livingroom? Does it provide enough bass or do I need an additional subwoofer?
1 Answer
Hi Marius, You would need a minimum of two pair or four each. I would recommend looking at our new MK690TT speakers. These are dual application speakers that feature Dual Voice Coils and Dual Tweeters. They have a unique 4/8 ohm stereo/mono switch that allows you to connect the speakers as a stereo pair (connecting just one of the voice coils and setting the switch to 4 ohms). Assuming you have room (15 x 18 feet), I would mount each speaker 5-foot from the short wall and 4-foot from the long wall. The beauty of these speakers is the dual tweeters that dramatically increase the dispersion pattern of the high frequencies. I would start there then determine if you want to add a dedicated powered subwoofer like our PS88. Good luck! TL/MA
