tom • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I'm trying to decide between these or the AP650. I plan on dricing them with a sonos amp giving out 55w per channel. can you tell me what differences i should expect between these speakers? I have the bluetooth version of the 650 now so i know how they sound.
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Tom: The AP650 is identical to the BTP650 as far as Cabinet, Driver and unique mounting bracket (swivels and tilts). And unlike the AP840 they are a sealed design versus ported and because of that it is the highest rated outdoor speaker we offer. Good choices... TL/4535
Mark Uhlman • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM It appears that these speakers have 2 mounting holes on the back, located above the inputs. If so, how far apart are they and what size hardware do they require? I will be using universal swivel style mounts that have a 2 hole (slots) mount for the speaker side and a 4 hole mount for the wall/ceiling side. Thanks, Mark
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Mark: These speakers come with the mounting bracket that swivels already. The mounting holes you are referring to were for another pivoting bracket that we never brought in. The Bracket features three slotted holes to mount to your surface. And two screws to attach the bracket to the speakers. TL/4585
Steve • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM I have sent a couple pics of the receiver that I own. It comes with a zone 2 setting. Am I able to run a pair of the AP840s off of this zone 2 to my deck? If so, would I need anything else to make it work like an amp? Thanks in advance!
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Steve: According to your owner's manual, you can connect to the speaker level outputs of your receiver. The is called Powered Zone 2. It is fine as long as your connecting to just one pair of 8-ohm speakers (like the AP840). Page 84 tells you about the settings where the zone 2 will play but your home theater will only output 5.1 even if channels 6 and 7 are connected. If you turn zone 2 off then your 7.1 will play. If you plan to connect more than one pair of speakers you will need to consider adding an external amp and connect to the Zone 2 Pre Amp output of the Receiver. Then you are limited by connecting two or more pair where you have to deal with impedance matching. And we can help you with that. This is from page 83 of the manual Connecting Your Zone 2 Speakers Directly to the AV receiver This setup allows 5.1-channel playback in your main room and 2-channel stereo playback in Zone 2, with a different source in each room. This is called Powered Zone 2, as the Zone 2 speakers are powered by the AV receiver. Note that when Powered Zone 2 is turned off, you can enjoy 7.1-channel playback in your main room. TL/4991
Cary Roach • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Hello, I currently have 4 AP840’s on my patio on 2 acres and can blast the entire neighborhood if I want. I am using Onkyo AV TX-NR555 receiver with a OSD AMP300. My question is I have a 3500 Watt continuous inverter in my truck, will this run my current patio equipment list above in my truck through the inverter?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Cary: When I look up 3500 Watt Inverters to read about their capability it seems you will have no problem whatsoever using the aforementioned equipment listed in your question. The only question would be "When does the party start"? Good luck TL/5069
    Jaime nieto • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Do these speakers work with 25W Outdoor Marine Amp/Receiver OSD-MA2 ?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
HI Jamie: I think a better match for the OSD MA2 would be the AP525 which features a unique mounting bracket that swivels and tilts plus it has fully sealed cabinet with an IP:6X rating (100 dustproof). There is also a 6.5" version as well, the AP650. Both are available in a black or white cabinet. TL/5158
