Features & Specifications

One of our best designed patio speakers, the AP550TT is a single speaker with dual voice coils. This configuration works well in smaller spaces where installing multiple speakers is difficult. With just one speaker, you get even dispersion throughout the listening area. Our dual voice coil, twin tweeter system masters the challenges of outdoor sound and wide-coverage installations, with a degree of dispersion that conventional stereo speaker systems can't match. We call it 'constant directivity.' You'll call it amazing. It really cranks out the bass, even at low listening levels. Plus, it has twin 1" soft dome, pivoting tweeters mounted in Slant-Back wave planes for enhanced high-frequency dispersion. So you'll get great coverage no matter where you are.

What Is a Dual Voice Coil Speaker?
A Dual Voice Coil (DVC) speaker uses a special voice coil cone design that allows both channels of a stereo system to drive one cone. Sound complicated? It's not. Basically a DVC speaker plays both right and left channels through one speaker cone. You get both channels but without the acoustic separation that happens with two speakers. DVC speakers are great space savers and customers love them for bathrooms, hallways, small patios, etc. They're also great for outdoor areas where stereo separation is not always a big concern.

10 Questions asked on B-Stock Outdoor Speakers Patio OSD Audio AP550TT

Harry Cloud • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q I am looking for outdoor speakers but they MUST be 4 ohm. Do you carry such an item?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A if you connect this speaker in parallel, it is 4 ohms.
Otto • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q I have bought this speaker (1) for my back patio, and there seems to be a problem. I don't know much about sound systems, but I have a Onkyo TX-SR608 that has the 5.1 speakers in the house and this speaker outside as zone2. As soon as I turn it to zone 2 and start increasing the volume, my system shuts down. So, I don't know if it's the system or the speaker is too weak. Can someone give me some guidance, please? According to the specs of the amplifier, it puts out 100watts per channel.
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A Otto, There could be a problem with the assigning of Zone 2 in your menu options. Also, I would try to wire the speaker to the front speakers output, as a test to make sure its working properly. Note: in the manual for your Onkyo, it states "zone 2 will not work if the speaker type is set to bi-amp" CL
kevin barnes • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q Can you daisy chain these speakers together to get 4? 2 left and 2 right?
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A I have an Onkyo TX-DS696 with 2 speaker channel outputs. From what you are saying I may be better off just getting the outdoor volume control and splitting off from there -- if I do that I would not need to purchase these speakers that daisy chain - correct? I could use any 4 speakers if I am coming off the volume control? Thank you Kevin
Josh • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q I recently purchased one of these and when I hooked it up the left channel was not working right at all. I have initiated an exchange with my online retailer, but wanted to make sure this is not typical. Basically when I swung the balance control to the left it sounded very thin, nothing in the woofer at all, and only quiet sound from the tweeter. Swing to the right channel and everything sounded great. I triple checked the wiring to be sure polarity was correct.
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A Hi Josh: I am assuming you connected both voice coils of the AP550TT from the left and right outputs of you Receiver/Amplifier. You might also reverse your input wires and then do your balance test. Normally the left and right balance should have no effect if it working properly. So if both inputs are connected and you have reversed the wires and find that the left works and the right now has a problem you will want to get it exchanged. TL
kristy • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q i have a receiver in the porch enclosure and would like to hook yhese up outside on the deck can i just hook these to the a or b output to be able to switch from porch enclosure to outside deck and everything still sound good
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A Hi Kristy, The ability to play A and B at the same time depends on your receiver. Check your manual for more information. The AP550TT is a single stereo speaker and takes up as much room as a pair on your receiver (a left and a right speaker cable goes to the AP550TT). CL/MA 1713
