Features & Specifications

The phrase we hear most often when customers describe our ACE600 trimless thin bezel in-ceiling speaker is, "what a bargain!" This trimless speaker pair really is a bargain when you consider the components that go into it. The ACE600 moves into the larger 6.5" woofer for excellent bass for home theater systems and a 3/4 " pivoting silk dome tweeter for crisp highs. The ACE600 and our entire ACE (Architectural Ceiling Element) series of in-ceiling speakers combine elegant, modern style with outstanding audio performance. The invisible trimless grill design gives the ACE speakers a clean and sleek appearance that seamlessly integrates into any design space. Adds less visual impact on your architectural audio installation.

ACE (Architectural Ceiling Element) series ceiling speakers combine elegant, modern style with outstanding audio performance. The new micro flange grilles have a thin (0.15") trim, giving the ACE speakers a clean and sleek appearance that seamlessly integrates into any design space. Match your recessed lighting size and you won't even notice that there are speakers there

Installation & Setup

How does this speaker mount to the ceiling?
Many of our customers install our ceiling speakers on their own and mounting is made easy by the design. All our in-ceiling speakers feature a dog leg (L-shaped) mounting system that is part of the frame. Before you install the speakers, remove the grille and you’ll see several the mounting screws near the front frame. These screws need to be loosened to activate the dog leg clamps. Use a screwdriver to loosen (turn to the left) these screws and the clamp will come loose. When the speaker is in position in the ceiling, tighten (turn to the right) the screw and the speaker will be secured to the ceiling.

Cable Considerations
Wiring depends on your local building codes; however, we recommend purchasing our in-wall speaker cable. This CL3/FT4-rated is UL (fire) rated for all residential and most commercial in-wall and in-ceiling applications. (The exception is you cannot run this cable in heating or cooling ducts in commercial applications.) It also includes a heavy-duty outer jacket approved for in-wall/in-ceiling installation, and the high quality plastic jacket is very flexible so it's easy to run the wires through the twists and turns of wall cavities.

What Gauge Wire Should I Use
For runs up to 100 feet for background music, 16-gauge will be fine. If the run is approaching or exceeding 100 feet, use 14-gauge wire.

How Many Speakers Will I Need to Fill a Specific Space?
That depends on a couple of things. The size of your room will determine the amount and type of speakers you choose but a lot of folks forget to consider the amount of background noise the room is exposed to. If your room is near the kitchen, the speakers have to compete against conversations, churning dishwashers, and beeping microwaves. You may need to add more speakers or speakers with higher power ratings to output high volume levels without distortion. If you have a large room or if your room leads into other large areas, there's more air to move. Cubic feet and square feet are different. The size of the room is measured in cubic feet; therefore, a room that's 20 feet by 15 feet with a 10-foot tall ceiling would have 3,000 cubic feet, which is actually 300 square feet. Smaller rooms, say less than 2,000 cubic feet, don't need as much amplifier power and speaker efficiency ratings.

Please note: Use cut-out diameter according to the bullet point on the website.

Do you have a back box that will work for these speakers?
2 Answers
Hi Mike: We do not have a back box specifically for this speaker. What we do recommend is a protective cover that covers the back of the speaker. Check out the OEM Systems ISF-147 Ceiling Speaker Protective Cover. You can find it at AMAZON; It is an affordable option for protecting your speaker inside the wall. TL/5331

Can i use this speakers in the bathroom ceiling? And outdoor?
1 Answer
Hi Bjorn, These are not weather-resistant so we would not recommend them for bathrooms or outside applications. A better choice would be either our ICE640WRS (6.5") or ICE840WRS (8") for stereo pairs that will work in either application. If you’re limited on space, we also have a Dual Voice Coil single stereo speaker, the ICE840TT, that lets you connect both left and right inputs, and you can even place these speakers in a shower or sauna.

The old wiring has four wires, will it work or do I have to rewire
1 Answer
Hi Leann, These are sold as a pair (2 speakers) where each speaker needs a 2-conductor wire. You could split the four off to each speaker if the open wire is protected, or you can just run a 4-conductor wire to both speakers but only connect two of the conductors (i.e., black and red).

Do you have any ceiling speakers that are black? Thanks very much
1 Answer
Hi Jamie: Look at either the ACE600 or ACE800. All of our speakers have frames and grills that you can paint. And in the case of the Trim-less design the grill can be painted so all you see is the black grill. You have to make sure to remove the internal cloth on the inside of the grill (if it has one). The cloth was used to hide the color of the cone or baffle from showing through the grill. But both the ACE600 and ACE800 feature black Grills, Black Tweeter and black Baffle so all you see is the black grill. TL-2127

Can these speakers be painted? Are they easy to install? Our home is pre wired.
1 Answer
Hi Kathleen, OSD Audio ceiling speakers come with dog-eared clasps that tighten down onto your ceiling by using a Philips tip screwdriver. These speakers are easy to install, and you can paint the frame and grilles to match your décor. We do recommend using fine spray paint to avoid clogging the holes of the grille. CL/MA 1637

Do you have any speaker covers that would fit a 8" hole in the ceiling. Someone removed all the speakers out of the ceiling. Any suggestions? We need 5 of them.
1 Answer
Hi Cathy: We do not sell anything that just covers the holes. We do have a number of speakers that would fit into the holes you have. Most of our 6.5 inch in-ceiling speakers have cutout holes of 7 3/4" and would most likely fill your 8" hole with enough frame to cover the hole. Are the holes in different rooms. How elaborate was the audio system that was taken out. Maybe if you can describe the location of each hole and whether there were volume controls or Key pads associated with each hole. Adding sound to your home can be affordable especially if wires are already run and they are accessible. Plus it maybe the cheapest and most enjoyable way to fill in the holes. Please let us know if you are interested in hearing more options. TL TL

When is this item going to be available?
1 Answer
Hi S: The ACE590 will not be back in stock for another 30 days. Did you compare it to the ACE600? You will notice looking at the images of both speakers that the ACE600 has an actual audiophile grade crossover network. The ACE590 is a basic coaxial design with only a resistor connected to the tweeter protecting it from the low pass frequencies. The ACE600 and above feature bass and treble contour switches, better cone materials and step up tweeters and broader frequency response and more power handling. And they are all in stock... TL
