Tommy • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q I have a denon receiver without 2 zone capabilities. By using a speaker selector, will this provide me with that capability? If so what is the process of hooking it up to the receiver and then to the outdoor speakers? By doing this, will I loose performance with either the main set or the outdoor set? Thanks a lot. Tommy
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A The key to a receiver equipped with second zone output is it allows you to output from two separate sources at the same time. Most receivers that do not feature a second zone output offer A & B speaker output but limit to a single source that you can listen to. The speaker selector will allow you to set up multiple speakers off one of the outputs but will limit you to whatever source is selected on the receiver. You could connect your speakers in the main room to speaker output A and then connect the Speaker selector to speaker output B. Both will be limited to the single source selected, What the speaker selector will do is maintain a consistent impedance to the receiver no matter how many speakers you have connected. The ATM-7 allows you to turn the zones on or off remotely plus allows you to add a second source possibly another receiver or a separate amplifier like our OSD120 that allows you to connect to an iPod or computer, giving you a second source duplicating the receiver that features a second zone
