113 Questions asked on 7 Zone Automatic Speaker Selector w/ Remote Control IR Code - ATM7

Juan • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q What is the output for each channel? Can you use different volumes for each zone? If I use music from an IPOD do I need a receiver or only the amp and the ATM? I am using 10 speakers yamaha NSIC800 for two Zones. One Zone with 6 speakers and one with 4 speakers. In the future I might think of 2 subwoofers, one for each Zone. The music comes from a digital source (Apple time Capsule) to be controlled with an IPad.

A Juan; 1)Total output 400 Watts or roughly 60 watts per zone 2) Volume is the same for all zones, this is a passive device that adds no gain or attenuation. You would need to add independent Volume controls to change the volume. 3) Option one is connecting the three pairs of speakers from zone one to a single volume control wired in parallel and connecting zone two through another volume control to the two pairs for zone 2. You must set the impedance matching setting on the Volme Control to 8X. 4) Option #2, you utilze all 7 zone outputs assigning three zones for area number 1 (zone 1,2 & 3) and two zones for area number 2 (zone 4 & 5). If you choose to add volume controls it would take adding an independent volume control for each pair of speakers (10 pairs = 5 VC). This would give you maximum flexibility in your system. The setting for these volume controls would be 8x as well. 5) You could still add a subwoofer per room using zone 6 for one subwoofer and zone 7 for the second. Most of our powered Subwoofers have a speaker level input option. The key to all of this is you ability to run wire to each speaker directly or through the volume controls. Plus run speaker wire to a wall plate to output to your external Powered Subwoofer. Note: The music coming from the time capsule still needs to convert over to analog somewhere in you system through a DAC. This could be through your Apple or PC which would have an audio or headphone output which is analog. You will need either a Receiver or independent Amplifier to drive the The ATM 7 which needs an analog input to work. The remote capability turns the zones on or off and selects between source A or B. The ATM 7 has dual source input but you can only listen to one source at a time. OSD also sells Impedance matching Volume Controls and other speaker selectors that feature internal volume controls like our SSVC.Our DSM speaker selectors feature independent A or B source switching and comes in a 6 or 8 zone version. kumar • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q I am having trouble playing all 7 zones for more than 2 minutes , the output seems to drop .i will have to increase the volume of my Av receiver to hear from the speakers connected to ATM - 7 zone . please suggest

A Hi Kumar, To best answer your question, we have a few questions for you. Do you have single pair of 8 ohm rated speakers connected to each output? What is the receiver/amplifier you are using and what is the rated power? Are you using any Volume Controls for all or any of the zones, if so what type? Is the Master/Slave switch set to off position? Answering these questions will help us give you the most helpful response. TL/MA

A Hi Kumar: Our factory engineering responded to our (and your) concerns. The ATM-7 needs to maintain an input voltage of at least 3.5 volts otherwise it has an auto off feature. So if you listen to the unit at lower than expected volume it will tend to shut down. TL
Dave • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q Will it really be 12/21/12 when this item is next available? That is what your website is currently showing.
Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
A Hi Dave: We show the ATM-7 are definetly due in this week. TL
Eric Brown • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Q Just got this unit yesterday. Everything is hooked up and works fine. . . for one minute. Exactly one minute from any change I last made (switch speakers, turning on multiple speakers, turning the unit on, . . . whatever) it will turn off all the speakers exactly one minute from that change. The unit will still be powered up but all the speakers will be unselected. I read in the blog that the unit has some kind of auto-shutoff feature. Could that be feature be malfunctioning? Any ideas?

A Eric, It sounds like you have a defective atm-7. I will forward this issue to Brennan, who heads our returns department so we can get this resolved for you. Sorry for the inconvenience. CL
