Looking for outdoor speakers for a houseboat. Mounted against bottom of fly bridge. Would need to hear these about 25 feet away. Need rectangle style. Any suggestions on what type to use?

Hi Dana: We have in-ceiling speakers that are weatherproof. I am assuming you are mounting these speakers in a wall or ceiling where you have an isolated chamber behind it. Typically Boaters choose one of our Patio speakers that are sealed (not ported) like our new AP650 and AP525 which features a unique mounting bracket that swivels and pivots. Good luck: 4026 TL/

Can these wall speakers be used in a ceiling?
1 Answer
Hi Phil, It is possible to use the IW680s in-ceiling instead of in-wall. One thing to keep in mind though is that most of our speakers are designed specifically for in-wall or in-ceiling use. The IW680s will work in-ceiling, but you will get the most of them in-wall because they were designed for the amount of space that would be behind them in-wall. Hope that helps. CS 2531

I have a question. i want to know if this speaker will be enough for this space? i have a 65" DLP and i want mount these on the wall behind/ side of the tv. The couch is about 14' in front of the tv and i want to add another set of these or the 8" set behind the couch which is about 9' away. i have a vaulted ceiling and if i where to place them in the ceiling one would be higher than the other so i dont think this would work to well. Thank you for your advice

Hi Mike, In your situation, we recommend the IW840 for the right and left speakers and then go with the IW680 for the surrounds. The front speakers do most of the work along with the center channel. The surrounds are limited to the overall information and frequency response. You just need to make sure the swivel tweeters of all the in-wall speakers are directed at the prime listening/viewing area both for the front and back. Now all you need is a good matching center channel like our IW545 LCR speaker and a couple of powered subwoofers like our PS88s and you are in business. TL/MA -1540

I wa going to get 2 pair of these for my fathers gameroom that is a 12x14 that is open to the hallway do you think that will be enough to fill the room.

Hi Aaron, If you have the ability to run wires to the speakers on the inside of the walls, they will have plenty of output for your size room. If you are planning to mount them on opposite walls, make sure you do the Right channel then Left channel on one side then Left and Right channel on the other wall. The Right is directly facing the Left channel on the opposite side. This will give you better coverage in the room. If you have a problem accessing the walls for the speaker wire, then in-ceiling speakers would be your other option. OSD has a complete line of in-ceiling speakers as well. The ICE640 or even the ICE840 are of comparable quality to the IW680. We also have the CL3-rated speaker wire (16 or 14 gauge, 2 or 4 conductor) for use in the wall or in-ceiling. T/MA - 1399
