What ceiling construction mounting bracket will work with the ACE670?

HI Phil:
We have a New Construction Bracket under our Black Series line that will work for the ACE670; https://www.osdaudio.com/products/black-series/black-ceiling/black-series-6-5-in-ceiling-speakers/black-series-new-construction-bracket-for-6-5-angled-ceiling-speaker-pair-for-r62a-and-r63a-nc6a.html. The ACE670 has a cutout hole of 8 1/8". The NC6A cutout diameter: 8.3". It will work with the ACE670. You will need to contact our Customer Service department (562-697-2600) for the price. Let them know it is for the ACE670. The NC6A sell in pairs.

I am building a 7.1 theater system. My room is a approx 17' x 15' x 9' ceilings. my seating distance will be approx. 10' from the screen. I am going to use the ACE870's for the LCR and was planning on using the ACE670's for the 2 rears. Should the ACE670's be used for the side speakers? or is there a better version of these that should be used maybe a straight down version instead of angling them?

Hi Philip:
The angled ACE870 is an ideal choice for the Front Stage LCR speakers. The angled ACE670 is an excellent choice for Surround and Effects speakers. The key is the Angled speakers provide a broader dispersion pattern versus a straight down firing speaker. It allows you the ability to aim the Tweeter directly towards the ideal listening/viewing seating area. You can also locate it closer to an adjacent wall (within 1.5 ft versus a minimum 3 feet for straight down firing speakers). So the ultimate goal is to have the Tweeter of all speakers facing your ears. Check out any Home Theater diagram in any AVR owners manual. All speakers are typically floor standing or Bookshelf speakers on stands, all on the same plane with Tweeters at the same level. But the reality is most Home Theaters do not use a bunch of floor standing speakers with wires running everywhere.

Can the speaker grill be painted?

Hi Paul:Yes, the speaker grill is paintable. There is an acoustic transparent cloth glued to the inside of the grille that you must remove before you paint. I have heard people recommend using spray paint and make sure the perforated holes. You may also use a sponge brush if using a particular color-matching paint. I would also ask at the paint store for additional tips. The speaker grilles are powder-coated steel that is held in place by a group of powerful neodymium magnets.TL/5621

Want to use the ACE670 as a ceiling atmos speaker. Have sealed room and want to surface mount the speaker in a small enclosure just to fit the speaker approximately 1/3-1/2 cubic foot. Given the subwoofer will be cross over at 80-100 hz, will this be an issue for 80 hz and above with this little enclosure volume.

Hi Richard:
Try using fiber fill in each enclosure. This will make the speaker think it is working in a bigger enclosure. The Fiber absorbs the low frequencies. Try different amounts to help fine tune your enclosure.

How think can the wall or ceiling be for mounting. I cannot find that anywhere in your specs. ACE670

The AP670 should have at least one of the the mounting screws attached to a wall stud or ceiling joist. Each speaker weights 9 pounds. TimL/5-10
