The OSD IW525 in-wall LCR (left, right, center) trimless speaker is an economical and space-saving option for adding left, center and right channels to a home theater or media room. With its architect trimless design this in-wall LCR speaker can be used as a center-channel speaker in a surround-sound stereo or as a right or left speaker in a high-end system and complete your design looks. Dual polypropylene woofers produce clear, full bass tones with smooth high-frequency roll-off, while the 1" silk dome tweeter gives you distortion-free sound on the high end. The IW525 is capable of handling up to 150 watts so it can be paired with robust sound systems, and it's easy to install with the included template.

Why Go Trimless?
It's really a matter of aesthetic preference. These flush mounted speakers are hardly noticeable; that is until they're playing. Our trimless speakers do not include the 3/4-inch trim you typically see around in-wall speakers. The micro flange grilles are attached by extremely powerful magnets that stay put for quick and easy installation. Adds less visual impact on your architectural audio installation.
Why choose in-wall speakers over regular speakers?
Typically, rectangular in shape in-wall speakers are mounted in the wall and take up far less space than traditional box speakers. Customers love that wires are neatly concealed behind the wall and OSD in-walls can even be painted to match a room décor. Most in-wall speakers use the wall cavity as their enclosure or cabinet, which explains why in-wall must be installed to sound right. In-wall speakers come with special screws (called dog ears) that flip out and secure to the drywall (or other wall surfaces), a nearby stud, or a special frame attached to the studs. Custom installation frames (brackets) can also be purchased for a more secure fit or for lighter wall materials that require more support. In wall speakers are often categorized by the size of the woofer, not the size of the speaker itself.
What Type of Speaker Wire and What Gauge?
Wiring is not included with in-wall speakers so you will have to purchase some. We recommend our OSD Audio CL3/FT4 cable that is UL (fire) rated for in-wall and outdoor speaker installs. This type of cable includes a heavy-duty outer jacket approved for in-wall/in-ceiling installation. The high-quality plastic jacket is also very flexible so it's easy to run the wires inside the wall. As for the gauge, for runs up to 100 feet for background music, 16-gauge will be fine. If the run is approaching or exceeding 100 feet, we suggest 14-gauge wire.
What Is Butyl Rubber Surround?
With almost double the shelf life of foam, butyl rubber has been the choice of speaker designers looking to optimize the sound based upon materials that go together. The Surround is just one of the integral parts of the speaker's motor structure. Butyl Rubber gives the speaker more excursion capability featuring a deeper bass with a wider frequency response, and its shelf life is closer to 25 years compared to the foam at 12 to 15 years.
Installation Tips: For optimal sound, separate speakers by six to ten feet. Carefully plan the layout of your home theater system, as speaker installation requires that you cut a hole in your wall.
For a retrofit installation, no construction bracket is needed.

Hi Juan:
We are phasing out all of our standard frame in-wall LCR speakers. I believe we will replace with a good and better version of Dual 5.25" LCR speakers and possible dual 6.5" with 1" tweeter all with new trim-less version. They should be in stock within the next 30 days.
Note: You can still call customer service for B stock IW525 and check on a possible grill.

If I used 3 of these in the front for my LCR what would be a good pair of ceiling speakers to compliment them. The room is in my basement and is 11ft front to back and 15 ft wide. The rear ceiling speakers would be going in a soffit only 7 feet high right behind the seating area.

Your best speaker pair to match the IW525LCR speaker is the ACE670 and angled speaker that has a 15-degree angle and a pivoting tweeter that will pivot an additional 5-degrees (20% total). You want to be able to aim the tweeter towards your optimum viewing/listening location. It also matches the trim-less design of the IW525LCR. Are you limited to just a 5.1 system or can you add effects speakers between the seating area and the front stage speakers for Dolby ATMOS and DTS:X effects? The ACE670 work well for this application. It is all about aiming the tweeters.

If I use 3 of these (IW525) for the LCR what in ceiling speakers would compliment them. The basement area where I’m using them is 11ft front to back and 15ft wide. The in ceiling speakers will be installed in a soffit only 7 ft high behind the seating area. Thank you

I am sorry you had to submit the question a second time before I responded to your first question... Hopefully, you will check out our ACE670 for your surrounds and maybe you can add a second pair for the DOLBY ATMOS effects speakers if you have one of the newer 7.2 Audio Video Receivers. It makes a huge difference and the angled speakers provide for maximum flexibility for speaker placement. Its all about being to aim the tweeter at your optimum listening/viewing area.

I am purchasing these for my surround sound, can they be used as a single speaker in a separate room or do I need an actual stereo speaker for this application?

Hi Bob:
The iw525 is a full range MTM speaker (Midrange, Tweeter, Midrange). We call this an LCR speaker since it typically a Center Channel speaker but works well for all three front stage speakers (left, center and right). The center channel would be mounted horizontally and vertically for the right and left speaker. These are sold as Each.
Note your front speakers should be similar in design, same tweeters, and cone material and crossover components if possible.
