Get ready to rumble bring your landscape to life with our powerful GLS8 In-Ground Subwoofer. To immerse yourself in music’s lowest tones while enjoying your outdoor retreat, OSD Audio offers the GLS8 in-ground subwoofer. Since the bulk of the subwoofer is buried underground, only the port needs to appear to the outside world. But just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean you won’t know it’s there. The subterranean design brings bold, deep bass and full-range audio to backyards of any size. For optimum outdoor performance combine the GLS8 with our LS3 landscape satellite speakers. Create an unobtrusive stealthy outdoor sound system.

    Features:
    • Buried subwoofer cabinet disappears into the landscape.
    • Exposed vent can be primed and painted to blend into its surroundings.
    • At less than 20 inches long, you can enjoy big sound with a small footprint.
    • Easily expand your system with our compatible LS3 landscape satellite speakers.

    Installation Tips:
    • For the best quality sound place the subwoofer within 20 feet of the general listing area.
    • Ensure the hooded output vent is away from the direct spray of sprinklers.
    • Before burying the sub, put gravel at the bottom of the hole for drainage and leveling.

    Why Add an Outdoor Subwoofer?
Most outdoor speakers are not designed to cover lower frequencies so adding a subwoofer to a backyard audio system can make a huge difference in the quality of sound you experience. If you have outdoor speakers in your patio or backyard, you’re hearing mid and high frequencies and some bass so adding an outdoor subwoofer not only delivers missing bass notes, but also takes the low-frequency burden off the other speakers which will optimize your entire system.

Do I Need a Subwoofer Amplifier?
Yes! The GLS8 is a passive subwoofer and needs a subwoofer amplifier to power it. An ideal match is our SMP-300 which is rated at 500W peak power and 250W continuous RMS.

James • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Is the OSD SMP500 D too much amplifier for the GSL8? Appears the output of the amp far exceeds the max 500w the sub can handle. I was interested in the 250 mono however appears that model is no more?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Just used my brand new GLS8 paired with an SMP500D but the sound is not very prolific. In fact it sounds like a concert miles away. I tested with just the subwoofer and I am afraid once the whole system is on the sub won't even be a factor. What can I do? What should I look at?
Munroe Kelsay • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM This subwoofer has blue and brown speaker wires. Which is positive?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Munroe:Good question, I have been told the Green wire in Positive, Brown would be Negative. You can not hurt anything connecting it backward. It would be out of phase so cone would be going out when it should be going in. Connect to the Green (+) and Brown (-) and see how it sounds.TL/5539
Kimball Willard • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Is there a 70V kit or adapter for this speaker?
    Customer Service • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM
Hi Kimball:We do have an outdoor transformer, but its highest output wattage is 20W. I am not sure that will be enough for you. The following is a link for a 50W transformer (https://www.osdblack.com/osd-black-50w70t-commercial-distribution-line-matching-in-door-70v-transformer-50w-40w-30w-20w-and-10w.html). We also have a 100W version coming as well, but both are Indoor models. You would have to enclose them in a heavy-duty Waterproof enclosure. We do have a couple of 70Volt subwoofer under our Black Series that have built-in transformers. The 8" has three power taps, 38W, 75W or 150W. The following is a link for Black Series 70V XSUB8 In-ground passive Subwoofer: https://www.osdblack.com/black-series-8-in-ground-subwoofer-with-8-polypropylene-cone-and-300w-power-rating-xsub8.html and a 12 inch 70V: https://www.osdblack.com/black-series-12-in-ground-subwoofer-with-8-polypropylene-cone-and-500w-power-rating-bk-xsub12.html. It has the following tap settings: 75W, 150W, 300W. How much wattage do you have available for your sub? Let me know what you think: tim@osdaudio.comTL/5679
Edi • 12/18/2020, 11:13:26 PM Can I bury this under the deck (3 feet above ground) and expect decent output or does the top need to be in direct line of sight to listener ears?
    Customer Service • 01/05/2021, 4:03:42 PM
Hi Edi, You should bury the GLS8, it does not need to be level with your ear.
Adam Jannetta • 05/28/2021, 10:14:50 PM What is the approximate coverage area for the bass produced by this sub?
    Customer Service • 06/07/2021, 1:39:01 AM
Hi Adam: The GLS8 subwoofer will provide coverage of 1000 to 2000 square feet. It does depend on how much power you are driving the subwoofer with. Max output would be attained utilizing our SMP300 Dedicated Subwoofer amplifier rated at 450 Watts bridged Mono into 8-ohms. The SMP300 will also drive two of this GLS8, almost doubling the coverage at 225Watts into 4-ohms. Good luck, TimL/6-6-21
