I want to drive these speakers from a I2000M intercom. The out put of a room station is around 2 watts. There will be 2 speakers in series. Is this reasonable?
1 Answer
Hi Bill: I am assuming you will be using a pair of these speakers and wire them in Series as recommended by Intrasonic Technology. They should work fine. The output signal is summed mono or full range Mono. Good Luck TL/4009

Connected a pair of these speakers to my receiver using a VMS300 volume controller. to hear a faint sound from the speakers the volume control needs to placed on the highest volume setting. When I turn up the receiver volume the receiver then shuts down after 10 seconds. What could be causing this issue
1 Answer
Hi Nik, Check to see what the impedance switch on the back of the volume control is set to. If you're only running one pair off your receiver, it should be set to 1/2x. Technically you should be running a non-impedance matching volume control if for max power, but the VMS300 should still work just fine. How much power (in watts) is your receiver putting out into the volume control? -BM 2447

I installed and connected this speaker to my receiver using a VMS300 volume control. First I need to place the volume control in the max position to get any sound and the sounds is very faint. Then when I turn the volume up on the my receiver the receiver shuts down after about 10 seconds. I have checked all the wiring all looks to be good and snug. What could be the issue causing this.
1 Answer
Hi Nik, How many of the ACE840 speakers are you actually running off the one VMS300 volume control? Since they are sold in pairs, I'm assuming you are running 2 speakers off the volume control. What type of amp/receiver are you running to the volume control? -BM 2446

How would these speakers work with your breathe audio system? What other 8" trim less speaker would you recommend ?
1 Answer
Hi Steveu: These 8 inch speakers work very well with the Breathe Audio system. We have two other options for trimless 8", one being the more affordable ACE800 or the more expensive ACE850MK (our best). In the more convential frame speaker check out the ACE840TT,Dual Voice Coil, Dual Tweeter and dual application speaker. It features a 8/16 ohm switch which allows you to use it as a single summed mono stereo speaker in the 16 ohm position (ideal for bathrooms or hallways where you only have single choice for locations). The second option is to install a pair of these speakers where you connect one of the voice coils on each speaker and set the switch to 8 ohm. The dual tweeters in both applications give you broader distribution of the high frequencies. The bottom line the Breathe Audio features plenty of power to drive any of our eight inch speakers. An an eight inch speaker usually offers more bass than a 6.5 inch speaker in the same series. TL
