    Hi David: These Patio Speakers are passive with no internal Power Amplifier. The iPod headphone jack needs to be connect to an external Power Amplifier (like our OSD AMP120) with a mini 3.5mm RCA to a stereo RCA adapter cable. Then the speakers are connected with speaker wire from the amplifier to the individual Right and Left AP520 speaker. TL

    Jax • 12/17/2019, 2:17:43 PM Most of your speakers just list the peak power. These are listed at 120W. I am wiring my receiver in serial to handle 2 sets of speakers on the 1 B channel. My receiver is listed at 130W of continous power (165 peak) per channel at 8 Ohms. I believe when wiring this in serial with another pair that drops my wattage to the speakers to 32.5W. What is the lowest watts required by your speakers to power them adequately? Also do the dual coil (1 stereo) peak watts at 150 mean 75 peak watts per channel? Lastly when wiring these in serial could I add 2 separate volume controls to control the separate sets of speakers? I doubt this is possible tho since they are all on the same line. If I wire in parallel I will drop my impedance to low.

    HI Jax: Just about any of our 5.25 to 6.5 inch speakers will work fine for you application. Most typically are rated from 10 to 120/150 watts. You might also look at the sensitivity of a speaker. A 90dB speaker is much more efficient than a 87dB speaker as an example. The 90dB speaker takes less power for full output versus the 87dB. You can wire the speakers in series but you are getting half the output from the Receiver. If you utilize separate volume controls for both pair you will wire them in Parallel and set the Impedance matching Volume Controls (like our SVC300) to 1/2x). That will show an 8 ohm setting for your Receiver. If you wire in Parallel without Volume Controls you will get a 4 ohm load which will be too much for your receiver. When you cut the load in half (from 8 to 4 ohms) the current demand more than doubles as does the heat generated. When you wire in series the 16 ohm load cuts your power output in half. Definitely a safe operating zone but your output is now limited. The Impedance matching Volume Controls comes closer to the 8 ohm load that is the optimum for your receiver. We sell lots of Speakers, Volume Controls, Speaker Selectors, Amplifiers and the wire to connect them all to handle applications involving Impedance matching. I hope this was informative. Ok...just curious...if I do wire the 2 sets of speakers in parallel can i only use 1 impedance matching OVC 300 on only 1 set with the setting at 1/2x? Or would that result in the 2nd set drawing an evil load of 4ohms since there is no impedance match? Also would this ultimatelly mean that this controls both sets of speakers than? Reason I ask is because I really don't need a volume control on 1 of the speakers. I really only need to separatelly control 1 set of speakers. Also any reason you recommend the SVC300 over the 100 for my setup? Thanks again!

    Hi Jax: You can go back to the original concept of connecting one speaker to A output and use the SVC300 (set to 1/2x) Impedance matching Volume Control and then just connect the second stereo speaker directly to B output with no volume Control. The 300 versus 100 is better choice. The 300 will have plenty of Transformer capacity so you will not saturate it. With the High Current Amplifier and quality of the Niles speakers you want to go with the higher value. I hope that helps, good luck TL

You are saying Split my front left and rights off that A with the IMp matching volume control an additional set of speakers. Than my b channel gets it'd own dedicated normal speaker. Does it Matter that my fronts A are currently going to the sub woofer as speaker level inputs? Sorry for all the questions, thanks.
