The AP640 outdoor patio speaker pair is an ideal option for large outdoor spaces that require high-quality sound coverage. Rated IP54 for protection against dust and water, these speakers feature a frequency response of 37Hz to 20kHz +/- 10dB, power handling of 20-150W peak, sensitivity of 90dB. The gold-plated spring-loaded binding posts ensure a secure connection. The powder-coated rust-resistant aluminum grille, ABS polymer enclosure and 'U' bracket make these speakers durable for outdoor use. The speakers provide rich and true sound, and are perfect for patios, decks and overhangs measuring between 500 and 800 square feet. They are sold as a pair, available in black or white and come with a 1-year warranty.

I would like to replace our old Sony outdoor speakers because one of the speakers has blown. The speakers connected through wiring from the inside but were mounted outside under our eave. Will these speakers work?

These should work great! They are weather-resistant outdoor speakers and can run off any 8ohm receiver.

Are the grills for these speakers plastic or metal? Are they removable?

Yes the Grills are metal; "Power-coated rust-resistant grille" as listed in the Features.
As you can see by the images we removed the grills to take the pictures. There are six screws that hold the front baffle to the back enclosure accessible only with the grill off. You want to be careful removing the grill so as not to bend it out of shape. Try and work it out evenly, we can even send you a small grill puller tool which we normally include with our in-ceiling and in-wall speakers. We can send one of these along with the speakers. Just let us know you need one when ordering.

Do these speakers have 2 tweeters or 1? The specs only state a 1" supernil soft dome tweeter. What is the other silver dome at the top of the speaker above what looks like a port and a tweeter?

The AP-640 is a 6.5" Two way speaker featuring a 6.5 inch Poly woofer along with a 1" soft dome tweeter. The small silver cone is a passive radiator that operates as a controlled port. It is not connected internally.

Will these speakers work on a car stereo system on a boat

Hi Joe:
Most Marine systems feature electronics similar to car audio (12 volt). Amplifiers are typically 4 ohms versus the standard home amplifier's 8 ohms. All of our Patio Speakers are rated at 8 ohms as well. The good news is you can wire two pair together in Parallel and achieve a matching 4 ohms to the Amplifier. But I would recommend picking a pair of our Patio Speakers with Sealed (Closed) Enclosure design. Checkout our new AP650 white speakers (we will be adding black model as well). It is also recommended you stow the speakers away when not using your boat.

I'mlooking at purchasing three pairs of AP640 High Performance Speakers for my Mobile Concessions Trailer, what size amp would be needed to run all three pairs of speakers at the same time (all three pairs at same time will not be everyday use)?
I was looking at your Amp200 will this work or would you recommend another size amp.

Hi Anthony:
This Amplifier will be perfect for your application. A couple of options, one connecting the three pair of AP-640 without volume Controls you could connect two pair in parallel on speaker A output and then the third pair to Speaker B output on the AMP-200. Second option would involve adding adding Volume controls and ISS4 speaker selector, one for each pair of speakers connected in parallel to the Speaker A. Look at our OVC volume controls that are fully weatherproof and can mount on wall. Third connect the three pair using our SSVC4 four zone speaker Selector with built in Volume Controls. You would have an option to add a fourth pair of speakers (maybe for inside the Trailer itself). The SSVC4 would allow you to control the volume levels from a central location. You also have the ability to add a sub woofer to your system as well, checkout the S-10 Powered Subwoofer at a great price including freight. You would connect your source to Input #2 and then connect the Sub woofer to Output #2. Then your Mobile Concession Trailer would be a rocking. Also checkout our CL3 rated speaker wire (16/2 and 16/4)
