How do I get sound to my OSD pendant speakers? I they are connected to red & black wires running to the back of the restaurant. There is 1 red & 1 black wire to connect to, do I need a preamp or can I convert those wires to aux & play my iPod through the pendant speakers? Thank u for your assistance.
1 Answer
Hi Keil: You need a power amp to drive the Pendant speaker and you will need 2 for stereo. Checkout the NERO Integrated amplifier that can be your multi source. You can use the built in Bluetooth Receiver or connect your iPod to the aux input. Or add a connection to your satellite box to play the audio from your TV. There is a handy dandy remote control as well and even a sub woofer output. Very flexible and works very well with your pendant speakers. How many zones do you have for the restaurant. I can help with the setup... Note: run the pendant speaker as 8 ohm for this setup. TL/4887

I have a Yamaha EMX 66 powered mixer (120v 250W 300VA) and would like to drive these speakers on the "monitor" circuit of the unit. Will this work?
1 Answer
Hi Curt: Maybe I am missing something but the Monitor circuit is a 1/4 inch connection, I am assuming is a signal level (pre amplified) output that is meant to go into a power Amplifier. I believe it would be 1/4" balanced connection to either a 1/4" balanced input or 1/4" to XLR connection. And appears to be a Stereo 1/4" output. Outputs - Other: 2 x 1/4" monitor, 1 x 1/4" sub woofer, 1 x 1/4" foot switch I think you need to confirm the Monitor output. We do offer amplifier with balanced line inputs under the CARVER brand name. You should connect with Yamaha regarding the Monitor output is pre amp stereo (balanced). If it stereo unbalanced your best bet would be going to our OSD AMP200 then connecting the pendant speakers. You could connect two to three pairs of pendants to the AMP-200. Let me know what you find out; TL/4763

Hi do I need a subwoofer to get a good bass or these speakers have good low frequency response...?
1 Answer
HI Mark: If you check the specs in the owner's manual it shows the Frequency Response as 120Hz to 20kHz so in essence no bass. You would like to see the frequency response below 50 on the low side. Checkout our 70V AP650T which has a frequency response at 37Hz to 22kHz. So you can add bass to the pendants. What other components are you planning as part of your system? my email address is Anything else you can tell me plus adding images of your project is a great help. Check out our PAM245 for a 70V Mixer/amplifier. TL/4757

How would you suggest calculating the number of PC640 speakers for an open office area? The space is approximately 5000 ft. Thank you!
1 Answer
Hi Matt: I could give you more detailed answer if I had just a bit more info. Do you have a Blueprint or drawing of the setup. We also have 70V patio or on-wall speakers that might be used in conjunction with the pendant speakers. The PC-640 do have a very good dispersion pattern so can be placed between 12 and 15 feet apart. We also offer 70V Amplifier/Mixers, Speaker Selector and Volume Controls that might work for you as well. TL/4557

How do these install / connect to the reciever?
1 Answer
Hi Mark; This is a loaded question that creates questions for you before I can properly answer. What receiver are you planning to use? 8 ohm or 70V. How many do you plan on installing? These have a built in 70V transformer with four 70V tap settings 2.5 W, 5 W, 10W and 20 W plus an 8 ohm setting as well. Additional information on source, power, quantity (layout) and images of the room or rooms you are planning to install these in. Please let me know so I can answer the question properly. TL/4540

Can these be connected to a Atmos enabled A/V receiver? Or do the need something additional for connecting to receiver? Thanks!!!
1 Answer
Hi Dean: Yes, you can connect this speaker to a Dolby Atmos Receiver. In fact it can be connected to any one of the 5 (5.1) or 7 (7.2) or 9 (9.2) or 11 (11.2) channels depending on which Receiver you are looking at. But when designing a true Custom Home Theater system you want to pick out speakers that you can aim the tweeter of the respective speaker at the optimum viewing/listening position. The pendant would have to be directly over your seating area. Our best in-ceiling LCR/Surround/Effects speaker would one of our angles speakers like the ACE-670 speaker. But if you are dealing with a an open area where you can not use a in-ceiling speaker we would recommend something like our Indoor Outdoor speaker the AP525 which features a unique mounting bracket which allows you to adjust both the swivel and tilt of the speaker allowing you to aim it at that optimum seating position.
